It is not unexpected to see some metrics drop with improvement in others. For example, you recruit muscles to do one task, and then they will not be readily available for another.

Yup and I believe that’s normal too, to see a dip in some but improvement in others.
I remember feeling frustrated and asking myself why was there a dip after doing my second FF but it all became clear to that I was either not well prepared for the task ahead, or not pacing it right, and like you mentioned, different muscles being recruited.
