@Heretic is single handedly dealing out the floggings MOST generously!!! Legend!

I am prepared to hand out even more.

Further, I am in a good mood because I think my strategy to finish off the last stage is working.

Leveraging the window? Those stage 4 sprints were…:face_with_peeking_eye:

Yes, but I had planned to leverage Stages 3 and 4, but I crashed midway through Stage 4.

I felt so good after doing 9H on new numbers at 100%, but the cumulative effects of Blender and 9H got to me. Even though I took it easy, I did not do all those sprints at 100%. I knew I probably could do them, but I might crash out of the Tour altogether. At 70 years old, my recovery powers are still good, but not what they used to be.

I did the Model and Downward Spiral at less than 100%. That was disappointing because I had planned to do the Model at 100%. I also think I underfed myself.

I also seemed to get some insight on how some riders can do horribly in one stage and then crush the next one.

Currently, I am planning to do Stage 7 at 100%.

That is pretty darn impressive, even for a young un! The increased need for recovery makes the back to back days sooo hard. Im doing everything on 80-85% because of my knee. Am just fine although mild fatigue today after stage 6. Knee has been fine throughout but Downward Spiral was not kind and its aching now

I’ve been doing the double routes as well. I always do the SUF video first.

Saturday: Stage 1 I did Blender at 90% and TBWIB at 80%
Sunday: Rest Dat
Monday: Stage 2 I did both 9H and Tour Down Under at 90%
Tuesday: Stage 3 I overslept ny alarm and didn’t have enough time to complete both videos. So I did Power Station at 100% then did the first 21 minutes of OL Girona at 80%.
Wednesday: Stage 4 I did both Cash Register and OL San Vitale at 100% then did the next 24 minutes of OL Girona at 80% (I ran out of time to fully complete it, again)
Thursday: Stage 5 today I did The Model at 100% and then finally finished off the last 16 minutes of OL Girona at 100% as well.

On Tuesday my alarm was set for 4:40am to get up and be able to ride both videos for stage 3, but I woke up at 5:35 and had to get in what I could. So I ended up splitting the OL video into 3 parts over 3 days and just getting in 21 minutes before I had to stop and get to work. And then underestimated the amount of time I needed on Wednesday to get the rest in. So today I finally finished off the 3rd and final portion. :see_no_evil:

My legs are toasted. My quads were quite sore when I woke up this morning and I’m a bit surprised and pleased I managed to make it through The Model.

I don’t know that I’ve ever completed The Downward Spiral at 100% except for the days I felt amazing. And then needing to do a 50 minute OL ride afterward? Likely going to be another 90% attempt. Even that’s not guaranteed. It was always difficult even when dialed down to 75% during a KOS attempt. So we shall see what happens tomorrow morning… :grimacing: :see_no_evil:

Interesting to read about everyone’s strategies, it’s clear you need to be aware of how you’re feeling during a multi-day event, and adapt if necessary. In years gone by, when I was arguably a bit more bike-fit, I’ve left it all on 100% & just got on with it. I had a slightly sore knee coming into the Tour, so took a little more cautious approach this time…

  • S1 I started out with good intentions, put it on 100% (ERG mode) but had to dial back to 90% after the first set of pain shakes, to survive the rest of the vid.
  • S2 I left on 100% but I always do 9H on Level mode not ERG, I find being able to micro adjust your power output during the efforts can help you keep it going, it’s the only way I ever finish it anyway.
  • S3 Power Station I know I can always grind out, so 100% (back to ERG)
  • S4b 100% although the sprints REALLY loaded up the resistance & it was hard not to lock up in them
  • S4a CR - 100%, I love this one, so managed to dig deep & crush.
  • S5 felt really beaten up after CR the same day, and knee was starting to moan, so dialled back to 90% and still found it hard.
  • S6 legs felt really sore & heavy for this, and one of my least favourite sessions, so I caved & started it out on 90% and stuck with that. It was ugly! :joy:
  • S7a/b tomorrow – what will I do? I expect put them both on at 100% for a big finish, I do like climbing ones. Secretly I want to be Sir Stand-and-Talk-a-lot.

For now it’s back to the Tartiflette and recovery beverages.

Strong riding everyone (esp those mad enough to double Tour). The nine hammers tavern is in sight now…

I am going to ride The Model in about a half hour…I have to ride it twice of course because I am doing both versions like an idiot. Im tired already and didn’t want to ride too many of these back to back but here I am getting ready to anyway. You should all know the your stories in the forum are entertaining and inspiring and keep me going!! Off to suffer now…

The legs are back! YES!
Managed The Model at 100% (just) and feel good now.
Overload training is coming to fruition.

I noticed that if you ride a session that has a parallel in the other tour, you get credit for it in both.

LOL - I just figured out today how to adjust workout intensity after reading everyone’s stage strategies.

So, I guess I’ve ridden all the stages at 100% through ignorance. Though, I definitely haven’t always been hitting the power targets.

But, that was probably for the best. I learned a lot about mental preparation getting ready for The Model after a miserable Stage 4.

So suddenly the Official Wahooligans fund raising total has jumped by $10,000 putting them nearly $9,000 ahead of the Citizens of Sufferlandria. And who is the newest and top donation…? Mr Chip Hawkins himself, Chief Executive Hooligan. @Dame.Ellisa @Lauren_TeamDPF “Referee, we withdraw from the the game…”

It’s not over till it’s over! Sufferlandrians never give up. There’s a place on the podium for participation leaders too, ya know

Anyone know someone with very deep pockets, who’d be able to drop $10k on the Citizens of Sufferlandria Team to even up the competition again?
Asking for a friend… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

My FB donations (and others as well) are not all reflected in the DPF website donations total, as far as I know. I know I have $955 according to FB, but still only $275 according to the DPF website. So hopefully they will be updated soon so we know how many donations we all really have.

This also means it’s almost time for my end of the Tour shenanigans!

Last year I rode Who Dates and HHNF for all of April AND in a knight’s helmet (see my profile picture) because you all helped bring our team donations to $15,000 and also pushed me over $1,500.

I am right below $1,000 right now (according to FB, not the DPF website). I will have to figure out what video I’m going to ride for all of April if you all can help me raise an additional $500.

Any ideas?

Isn’t that the entire point of The Tour? Citizens of Sufferlandria surge ahead, and Official Wahooligans rally. Official Wahooligans surge ahead and Citizens of Sufferlandria rally. And DPF wins!! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
