Ah yes. I did try that way back when. I can’t remember why I didn’t continue. Probably because Rouvy had a long free subscription during lockdown!
One thing to note for the people saying “I have x Mb download”, that’s mostly not relevant. Anything over 5 Mb should be fine.
What does play a part is latency and consistent latency. It’s probably not the problem, but given that most of the problem appears to be localised it might be an issue and it may even be worth people noting who their ISP is to see if there is any commonality
The point with the mention of connection is that this isn’t like a patchy 4G connection, or even Wifi that this issue is present on.
I ping… 13ms to Manchester. 109ms to Chicago. 105ms to Riyadh. 158ms to Los Angeles. 280 to Syndey. If they have disabled a more local host (i.e. if they use AWS and move from east to west coast) with the migration to SYSTM, or fucked their configuration, that seems like even more of a kick in the teeth than just new-user server load teething issues.
Does anyone know how to uninstall all the videos I’ve had to download to my ipad that are hogging up all my free space?
Just click the green check mark that shows it’s downloaded and it should present you with the option to delete. You do have to do this one a a time at the moment which is a pita but that’s what it is for now.
Bkool videos are rubbish, their main offering is augmented reality and it’s just ok. IMHO It’s trying to be all things to all people, augmented vid to compete with zwift, normal vid to compete with the rest. But it bCrap
Kinomap has high quality varied videos and no streaming issues, also has download on Android. I’ll be heading back there shortly.
Rouvy is good but not as varied as kinomap, also download option available on Android.
Fulgaz has good quality videos and Android download. But not as much variety as kinomap
Seems like table stakes for an Android app to have download. You’d have to think a download option would lessen the server impact.
The streaming issue (Irish based user) and lack of download are going to be deal breaker for me. Needs prioritising into the next dev sprint ASAP.
Same for me in Glasgow, Scotland. been a problem since SYSTM started, but was fine on the same setup when using Sufferfest. I want my videos and music back!
What argument? I was merely suggesting a temporary workaround that quite a few people, including myself, just do regardless. But anyway, it looks like downloads don’t work too well for Chris either.
Woah, that’s rough! Downloads take no more than a couple of mins for me. I didn’t realise that was a problem too. I guess you have the perfect storm!
It’s the latest update that totally broke things for me. I had experienced some stuttering on Windows which was annoying and which I chalked up to launch issues but nothing like this and interestingly, until last week, the Android side (which I use for the yoga and strength sessions) was pretty much fine. Last night, I tried to do a 14min yoga session on Android which turned into a nearly 19min session with all the freezing. Abi got some choice words, let me tell you. I didn’t have my laptop so my planned strength session had to be abandoned.
The Windows issues have occurred for me right from Systm launch, blocky graphics at best, totally frozen at worst although the actual workout plays fine. I had no previous issues with Sufferfest. I’m UK based
Agreed I was on the iOS beta and didn’t notice it there, although I do most cycling sessions on an Ethernet connected Win11 PC & that was on Sufferfest. TBH I rarely look up during cycling workouts but yoga/strength: is Abi Carver being silent or should I have finished this position & yesterday I did an extremely long set of pushups.
I think they should automate video download so that if a video is on your plan for the next 5 sessions it gets downloaded and then automatically deleted when it’s done. Having to do it manually is a pain.
That would be a neat option for sure.
A scheduling capablity would be cool. Only do so during 1am-5am or something, so it kicks in at 1am and downloads what is on its list - that could be the next day/week’s scheduled sessions and/or a pre-selected list.
Nice to haves but I doubt thy would be high on the dev list (bigger fish to fry all round).
Would be a nice to have, but would need to be a toggle-able option (and defaulted to “off”) though, because the last thing Wahoo/Suf want is people finding their hard drive is suddenly full and their machine misbehaving because SYSTM downloaded a bunch of videos they weren’t expecting it to.
I’d love a toggle-able option, though, as this is basically my means of operation anyway. At the start of a given week I go through my calendar and start all the videos scheduled for that week downloading, if I haven’t already got them.
Yes, I’d actually have more than a toggle. Maybe Off/Low/Medium/High for those having buffering, or not, depending on how closely they adhere to the plan & free memory. I mix in my own swimming and so occasionally move things around. I think the automatic deletion should prevent a collection building up. At present you could manually download the next videos when you review next week, but then you’d have to remember to delete them once they turn green. I’m skeptical that I’d always remember and think I’d end up with a collection, which is why the only video I have downloaded is Full Monty. I need to add Half Monty to that as the distraction of technical issues during a test is really annoying & I had that last week during HM.
I definitely do not want software making delete decisions on my computer for me.
It already does. That’s how streaming normally works.
Delete would, again, need to be a toggle.
I have a trainer specific computer, so ultimately will have all of the videos downloaded and want it that way.
Would also be nice to have a toggle for “This video has been updated, do you want to re-download” to just do that automagically… At the moment it’s a little annoying that you know you’ve got a video downloaded, only to open it when you want to do it and find it needs updating. If I have an active internet connection, SYSTM is left open and a video is updated, of course I want it to download the latest version.
But you were discussing download not streaming. I was referring to the context of download.
If I want something downloaded I don’t want it to disappear without my decision.
I see, as with everything in life, that what suits some people doesn’t suit others, so I would agree that, like @Jon suggested, if it were implemented it would need to be a toggle function where the user could choose to use it or not, as befits their need or preference.
More importantly, going back to the point of this thread…
Downloads occur ahead of time, so you don’t get lag, pauses, and 240p graphics. With streaming, the download may/will eventually disappear (depending on OS/software config). With a download it should stay without other user intervention.
So yes, saying ‘learn streaming’ is pedantic and obnoxious.
