Wahoo Kickr v6 power drops in Zwift ever since Firmware 5.6.13

Hi Everyone.

There is a growing number of people suddenly suffering from random connection drops in zwift. There is a Zwift forum post on it here: Direct Connect / Trainer Disconnect During Race [KICKR v6] - #3 by alaskant - Known Issues - Zwift Forums

It doesnt matter what connection you use - bluetooth, wifi, dircon or what platform you are on - windows, mac, appleTV, iOS - the drops are completely random and only started last week with the introduction of firmware 5.6.13. That firmware was supposed to offer better ‘Stability’ and no new features but its the first time I’ve ever had a connection drop on my V6 in 20,000KM of riding. This week its been 2 drops per 60min ride.

In any group ride on zwift this week if you ask in public chat about it, there are LOADS of people suffering from it. all v6 users (also a couple of core 2 users saying the same)

I didn’t even update my firmware, it was a forced ‘over the air’ update and with no method to roll it back.

Its made the trainer completely useless for competitive races as a 10-20second drop leaves you out of the race by the time it comes back. I have requested for my firmware to be rolled back in a support ticket but with no luck.

Wahoo urgently needs to fix this problem. Its nearly two weeks and nothing so far. If a fix takes time to come up with at least allow us to rollback to the last firmware version which had zero issues for me (I personally would never have updated mine… it was forced onto my trainer)

This post is trying to raise more awareness.

Since new firmware 5.6.13 I have the same problem with kickr v6 and zwift. I have already reported the issue through Wahoo Support and attached the relevant Zwift log files.

Same here. I hope there is a fix soon.

I have the exact same issue. Never had dropouts before on v6 with direct connect. Now it’s every ride. I hope Wahoo addresses this immediately!!

I have the same problem. Wahoo do a rollbak of the firmware asap!!!

If you are not able to make a stable firmware at least lets us rollback to a stable version! Please also give us a new feature to disable automatisk firmware updates - it should not be that hard to make.

Same here. I use KICKR v6 with TrainerRoad and since last firmware upgrade I get power drops in almost every training session which are cery frustrating especially if it happens in the middle of vo2 interval.

Prior to last update i can‘t even remember when I experienced power drops, must have been ages ago.

Oh, and I‘m using Bluetooth connection to my Win11 laptop, not the Direct Connect.

So far they have refused everyone that has asked to have the firmware rolled back (myself included) But then they are taking their sweet time coming up with a fix.

Do they not understand that allot of people literally use the product every single day! and currently its completely useless for any type of competitive racing and at best super frustrating for any other type of activity. You cant leave people with a disconnecting trainer for weeks without a fix. If they just rolled us back they can take as long as they like to find a solution. After all the old firmware we all had zero issues with is 6 months old at this point!

New firmware just dropped to fix the dropout issues.. :raising_hands:

My suggestion is update. and then completely isolate your trainer from the internet so it can never ‘auto update’ ever again… manual updates only for me from now on, and only once i know it doesnt break anything.
