What the title says. I never managed to get Di2 gear shifts recorded in FIT files with my Bolt v2…the head unit displayed the current gear selection, but remembers nothing. Some folks who had gotten Di2 set up with an older version of the Elemnt app got the "gear setup” page with the Di2 sensor setup, but at some point, that went away, and before I could avail myself of it. This has been an outstanding bug for 2+ years.
Got the new v3, set it up with the Wahoo app (because…no choice). Did my first ride yesterday. Di2 gear selection shows fine on the v3. Nothing recorded for shifts in the FIT file. And nothing I can find in the Wahoo app to configure gearing.
I had supposed that Wahoo hadn’t bothered to fix this in the Elemnt app because it’s going away. Am very disappointed that they haven’t gotten around to fixing this in the Wahoo app. Does this work for anyone with a v3 Bolt/ROAM? Ace?
With the ELEMNT on, open the Wahoo App.
Go to the Devices tab. Click on the ELEMNT.
You will see a list of paired sensors. The sensor does not have to be actively connected to the ELEMNT. Click on the one for your shifting.
From there you can set the gearing. After this is done you should get shifting data after the ride in the FIT file and can view the shifting summary in the Wahoo App.
These were also the instructions years back for the v2 guys with the Elemnt app. Trust me, I have them memorized. On my shiny new ROAM v3, my GRX Di2 is paired, and gearing shows on screen. In the Wahoo app (which I deleted once in other thrashing and have since reinstalled), in the list of sensors, the Di2 is there. I select it, and I can rename it, I see its ANT ID, and have an option to “forget sensor”. In neither the Elemnt app my v2 nor the Wahoo app with this v3 have I ever seen this promised place where I can enter gearing info. I know that’s the missing step, but don’t get presented a chance to do it. With the v2, I also had paired a Di2 105 (second bike) which I haven’t added to the v3 yet…but also never saw the gearing data entry screen for it, either.
Just one thing to check -
A. The list of sensors when you click the Devices tab
B. The list of sensors when you click the Devices tab, then click on the Roam with it connected?
Not trying to be condescending but I messed this up once and just trying to eliminate possible things.
I guess I’m not seeing what you mean by “then click on the Roam with it connected?”. Without the ROAM connected, there is no sensor list in the Wahoo app….I can’t select the ROAM from the “devices” tab at all, so there’s no sensor list. With the ROAM powered on and connected, I get the sensor list with the OBED Di2 in it, and selecting that gives what I sent in the screen shot. If I then go into settings on the ROAM and look at the sensor list, it’s there as well with the correct name. “open” there gives me the ANT ID and yet another option to forget the sensor.
OK so you’re looking at the right list.
If you just click the devices tab, you can pair sensors to the Wahoo App, like a trainer and stuff if you were going to do an indoor workout, or a HR strap if you were going to record a run. This is also where you’d pair other Wahoo sensors / KICKRS/ Radar so you can get firmware updates.
Technically you can pair your shifter to the app but why.
All that said I got nothing else, bummer.
