“It doesn’t get any easier, you just get faster” I believe is the quote from Greg LeMond, people that are not willing to push themselves progressively will never progress… that’s fine… my hope is the awesome platform is not watered down into a tepid, homogenized, gelatinous ‘cater for the couchlandrian masses’ rubbish that you see in the marketplace… I can only assume the new owners are pushing for this due to the success of ‘other platforms’

Sufferlandrian Holy Water Forever!
Well I really like the Tour poster, and the goat is great but I was a bit surprised to see it on the flag as some revered symbol of ancient times. I don’t dislike it, and I have to say the eyes never really did it for me, so it’s not the end of the world for me. I am disappointed that we can’t get a new flag for the tour though
Also, I really hope the Knights kit is more exciting than the regular ones, I’m not smitten.
But yanno, change is change and we have to go where the road takes us. Now, where’s those knights bibs…
EDIT: Sorry just realised that the new KoS kit is also there already. It was so outstanding I scrolled right past. Think that goat is gonna be after me!
I’m for this. I have no worries about rebranding or a bigger company ‘taking over’.
I like goats. I like lazers. I don’t like fascist styling on flags. I’m off to carve it into my buttocks.
Any chance of a stencil set with a sharpened goats claw or tusk so I can do a neat job??
Many of these changes have been coming for years, SUF for example was being introduced long before Wahoo annexed Sufferlandria.
What I see here is akin to making Suffering look enjoyable so that we can infiltrate Couchlandria and obtain true world domination!!
These changes help ensure that our beloved nation has enough market share to endure. I can safely assume that Sir David is doing what is necessary to not only survive but to thrive. And we will reap the benefits of a training app that is second to none.
It’s okay to be camouflaged. I don’t always ride in my Knight’s kit, but I always bring my “A” game to every group ride that I do.
Not an easy decision for sure but a necessary one. I have been a Sufferlandrian since 2012 and worked as a minion of SUF (now Wahoo) for 5 years. I will say this, a lot of Germans emailed in over the years not happy with our Flag design. I remember I had a German email me back a new flag design using the US Confederate battle flag colors and structure, and asked if we, in the United States, would be comfortable with that sort of flag. This was an overdue change and I would have asked David to do this even if Wahoo hadn’t acquired The Sufferfest. I don’t want to exclude an entire country of people because they find our flag offensive. We even let people come back from Couchlandria!
I didnt see any huge reason to change the flag, but cant argue with this!
I think the laser goat theme needs to be built into more of the workouts, build them up like a force of nature representing strength and unity (except for couchlandrians) and maybe keep away from the light hearted joke element. It’ll become more the norm and something proud to stand behind. I like these developments today. Now I must go and suffer!
Whoever did that, I salute you!! Great way of making your point.
I really disliked the old coat of arms (way too fussy and cluttered), but this one looks good.
Neutral on the flag, but then I was neutral on the old flag as well…
I REALLY like the new kit - the slashes across it look reminiscent of that one time you didn’t outrun Fluffy
How dare they change a symbol that had associations with actual nazis.
Also, how the eff do you not like the laser GOAT?!
You do know what suf means in Dutch though, right? Sorry
I have no issue with the original flag being retired given the reasons, both German and middle east. Oh and spider, which I’d not seen until you told me - I always saw a weird looking bloke in red headphones
The new flag (“goat on a poster”) is going to take some getting used to. But, hey, I don’t have to buy one, wave one or run naked up the road with one streaming behind me so I can deal with it. Still doesn’t look like a flag to me right now.
(Does look exactly like the first heraldic goat image I found using Google, flipped 180 so it’s facing the wrong way, tilted 10 degrees, drawn on with a bit of red but hey, I’m no copyright lawyer or Redbubble pirate who no longer needs to worry about image rights infringement)
I do however like the coat of arms, not that I didn’t like the old one, even if the goat is facing the wrong way
Changes, eh? Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. But move my cheese and I’ll happily, with some mostly under the breath muttering, just go find new cheese … while never leaving, of course
Totally! It’s an acronym that’s been used all the time I’ve been using the videos so at least since 2014. I actually have an old Suf decal somewhere and one of my T Shirts from way back when has it on.
HAHA! Yes, I do @JamesT . That’s something not many people know about.
THIS.
its riding in a hazmat suit, or a BMX to wallow in suffering. Its calling your trainer room your torture chamber. Its Ironic and its awesome.
So we went from Pain being bread in French, to SUF being Dull in Dutch.
I have thought a lot about these recent changes to the Sufferfest brand. I appreciate the critics lamenting a loss of an “esprit de corps.” Initially, I felt that way too. I am, after all, a Knight, and my knighthood attempt was quite painful. That said, I now believe that limiting one’s identity to extreme physical suffering and elevating that masochism to some higher purpose beyond training based on science (i.e,. suffering for the sake of suffering), is elitist, exclusionary and ultimately misguided. Rather, a more balanced attitude and a return to the tounge-in-cheek humor of the sufferfest is not only more healthy, but will result in greater training benefits.
While we all have our own personal reasons for training on a bike (e.g., to get faster, lose weight, stay in shape, have some alone time away from the kids, etc.), we all chose the sufferfest for a simple reason, it helps us achieve those goals. The sufferfest works, because it motivates each of us to consistently do our workouts. Consistency is the key to improvement. Why the sufferfest motivates me to sit on a trainer in a cold and dark pain cave, is probably slightly different than why it motivates you. For some of us, sufferfest workouts are Type 1 fun (i.e., fun every step of the way), for others it’s Type 2 fun (i.e, not fun at the moment, but in hindsight), for many of us it’s a mix of type 1 and type 2 fund and the “enterpainment” and the tounge-in-cheek humor keeps us going. Based on the new videos (cobbler, attacker, even recharger), I know and trust that this will not change.
Changing the flag, the coat of arms, shorting the Sufferfest to “SUF” etc, should not change why you try to drop Jens in the Rookie, why you laugh at all those misguided, premature celebrations in Blender, why you fight off the Shark in Thin Air, why you pitty Michael Coty at the end of Kitchen Sink, or why you give it your all on Hammer no. 8, only to be disheartened by the lack of recovery before hammer no. 9. Why you suffer, has to be a reason you have inside you.
i love the new look to be honest. GOAT was my first Suf ride and its was love at first sight. I like the kits and I like the flag. I plan to stock up on SUF gear, flag to be prominently displayed in the pain cave. I can certainly recognize the resistance to change, but change is not always bad. Now those who were lucky enough to have the old tricolor flag can hang along side it the laser goats and coat of arms. Keep up the good work and keep the creative juices flowing.
