Core 1 Shimano 12sp cassette removable?

I want to buy the Core 1 while it is still available for the hubby who uses a 9-spd Shimano cassette (same as my current setup) but the website won’t let me choose “no cassette.” I can choose the 12-spd Shimano cassette which I assume I can remove but I know nothing about the hubs for 12-spd. Will it be compatible?

Really appreciate your input as Wahoo does not have live support available (though they can sure send out sales emails anyway).

I believe you will have to buy it with the wrong cassette and then change the cassette to a 9 speed one you buy yourself. (Or get a bike shop to)

Should only require two special tools (chainwhip wrench and lockring tool).

I’m not a kickr owner, but the process should be same across trainers.

Edit, see this article. Hub should be fine.

Thanks. We set up my Core so long ago I forgot about the spacer which came with the trainer. We’ve got a garage full of tools so no problem swapping out the cassette.

However, we just realized that hubby and bike would hit the 250 lb weight limit even after the best of times (we’re now post-covid, several surgeries, and advancing age).

Sounds like you’re all set! I hope the shopping and setup goes smoothly.
