Defender is gone

My favorit workout Defender has been dropped and replaced with #New Phil wins the tour.

Is the new one good or bad?

And Why??

Edit; at least it seems like the songtracks still are the same

The notice and explanation is here:

I’m very sad as I have a LOT of very personal connections to Defender. I’m glad the music is still there. But I’m still very sad. :broken_heart::mending_heart::cry:

Workout structure :+1:t2:

Music :+1:t2:

Video meh - nice scenery but watching one guy riding gets old very fast. Race footage + timely remarks are way more engaging imo.

I thought this:backhand_index_pointing_up::backhand_index_pointing_up: was the purpose of starting of the the thread, “Sufferfest Remasters: Request for input/suggestions”

Sir Evan, you were the first thing I thought about when I read Defender was going away. Know that the Sufferfest community will always be here for you, Wahoo notwithstanding.

This is utter nonsense. As bad as replacing Recharger with a bland On Location video. How on earth can you possibly get motivated for doing ‘Defender’ with a boring video of someone riding solo? Another one I’ll never be doing again.

So much for Wahoo listening to subscribers.

I hope someone has an original copy of Defender that I can borrow. :folded_hands:

If Defender was your favourite, give this one a go and let them know your thoughts about it in the feedback thread. The more detail the better. :folded_hands:

As for me, it was one of my most dreaded videos and I’m pretty sure of the dozen times I’d done it, only once was it at 100% :face_vomiting:

I only ever managed to hold the high cadence in the third set once or twice. That was horrible but watching Simon Yates suffer solo helped with the motivation

@emacdoug yes Defender was a big one for me as well (as much as I hated the defender/attacker combo), but yeah - no one here has a bigger connection than you!

Hence SUFFERFEST > ON LOCATION.

I’ll be spending a lot of time this Fall and Winter planning workout substitutions, putting together playlists, and finding videos to watch… can hardly wait.

Reminds me of the old days before we had Spinervals.

Yup, everything got hard again, didn’t it?

I skipped CX season this fall to train for a couple of long (100M+) gravel races, just to try it out, but will be heading indoors in a month or so with a new plan - no idea yet what I’m going to focus on this winter, but I know it’ll take more work on my end to put it together.

Nothing must dull the suffering :smiling_face_with_horns:

The worst kind of suffering is dull suffering. It’s what brought me here in the first place

Always one I really struggled with. I appreciate the music being retained so I expect I will enjoy on the rare occasions I subject myself to the long efforts.

Question: is there a way to see/compare the data held against Defender when you do the new one?
