Direct Connect Not Working?

Bought a Direct Connect because my Kickr Bike Shift regularly drops data randomly throughout my rides. A recent example: I had a Vo2 Max test last week that would have logged a PB 6 minute effort, but there were something like 9 2-second drops throughout the test effort so that WKO5 only recorded 5:43.

Used the Direct Connect for the first time today and there are still several random drops in data throughout my ride. Screenshot below for reference.

Context: it connects my bike to my computer via a ethernet USB-C cable. Rode on TrainingPeaks Virtual.

Any insight here? Sorta annoyed it doesn’t seem to be resolving the issue I bought it to.

Thanks in advanced.

EDIT:

I am looking to test to see if the issue I’m experiencing might be TrainingPeaks/TrainingPeaks Virtual-related. As such, I thought to do a workout via the Wahoo app rather than TPV.

For some reason, workouts in my TrainingPeaks calendar show in the Wahoo app (iOS) and I can do them there. I cannot seem to find any way to do them on my Mac via web app though (which would be the goal so I could test the Direct Connect), and SYSTM does not display my plan in the calendar as the Wahoo app does for some reason.

Any insight here also appreciated, though not as pressing as above!

Screenshot wasn’t uploaded but what you describe sounds oddly similar to the BT dropouts I had with my Tacx trainer. Does the Shift do WiFi connection? Thats so much better.

Thanks for pointing that out. Just re-uploaded it.

It does do WiFi connection. I assume it automatically connected all the time, but perhaps it doesn’t and I have to open the Wahoo app and ensure it’s connected each time I ride?

In TPV you used to be able to choose which connection. The WiFi signal option is a different icon to BT or ANT+.

I used to have funnt dropouts in SYSTM which drove me nuts. Oddly it was on a Tacx not a Kickr. And I’ve had dropouts before with the Kickr on TPV but I havent used it for a very long time.

I think I figured out the Direct Connect issue. Literally have to just unpair the ‘power’ and ‘cadence’ meter in TPV and only have the ‘smart trainer’ paired. Ran a very quick yesterday and this seemed to do it. Will test on a proper ride today.

Who would have thought!
