Elemnt still not working after WE 53/17055

Update #1

Gremlins are indeed still at large. I have at least 3 issues:

  1. When I first turn the Elemnt on but before pressing Start ride, the screen goes blank, like its off, in a state of panic (I am riding by this time and about to press Start ride) press the power button again, the screen comes back immediately (unlike during normal start-up when it takes ages) and I press Start my ride
  2. Speed and distance sensors stay n/a for a long time, more than 10mins, I think cadence is on but I am not sure
  3. As a result, Elemnt does not record that section of the journey

Could it be that the update hasn’t fully addressed all the gremlins?

I updated my Wahoo Elemnt on Wed eve, confirmed version as WE 53/17055

On Thursday I did my usual commute route and it again skipped considerable sections of it.

Now that I think of it, the screen did go blank when I pressed on Start ride. I thought it had gone off but as soon as I touched the power button, the screen came back on and it appeared to be recording my ride.

After a few kilometres, it was not recording after all. Not recording was very similar to what was happening since the firmware 10 bit GPS issue started. It eventually started recording.

My Strava followers that know my route even started joking if I had found a short way.

I will update this topic next week once I have had more journeys.

I have similar problem after last update. 2nd time in a row, same route, and once again Wahoo lost my track. First track was cut after first half of the ride, and today my track starts i half way and end before its actualy end. Pls fix that becouse for me now after that update this device is useless.

I’m still having issues, power numbers ok when pushing hard, but way off on the flats. Also, not mapping ride at all. But the date and time are correct

Have you guys submitted support requests via the Wahoo website? @mgboehmer might see these posts and pass them on, but that’s not really how Wahoo uses these forums.

No I haven’t yet raised a support query. I thought I’ll check here first in case I am doing something wrong, eg ā€˜you need to restart your Elemnt 3 times’, or ā€˜press this button 3 times and then the other one 2 times’.

So far only 3 or 4 of you have encountered similar issues.

Regardless, do you have the link that I can use to raise a support ticket or is it fairly obvious on the main website?

And I’m surely not going to be much help with ELEMNT issues, definitely send a request over to our amazing support team and I’ll go back to writing requirements for our software

Yesterday I go for factory reset and my last ride was recorded whole track.

Thank you, that’s interesting, I will do that.

They came back on my ticket asking me to only turn on Wahoo outside (I turn it on before setting off as it takes ages to come on, by the time I actually start riding, I press on Start Ride), as follows:

  1. Turn the ELEMNT on while outdoors

  2. After the warming up process is completed, using the page button, scroll to the map page of the ELEMNT

  3. Initially, you will see ā€œacquiring GPSā€ in the top corner of the maps screen

  4. Once acquiring GPS is no longer visible, press start ride

I am not sure if I need to do that every time, if so, that would not be acceptable for me.
