GPS signal lost and date error 17-Aug 2025

Since yesterday the Wahoo ELEMNT intermittently loses GPS signal while reporting a wrong date and time (1/1/2006 instead of 17/08/2025 and a one-hour time difference). The unit intermittently picks up GPS signal then drops it after less than 30s. I’ve understood I may be one of many facing this issue.

Has Wahoo issued a firmware with bug fix for this error? My unit reports being up to date.

no firmware updates yet as far as my device is saying … hopefully it wont be too long as looks like it may be a persistent issue and not specific to 17th August.

I hope they fix this soon as I have a 200k Audax coming up and I need reliable TBT navigation. A real shame as my Roam has been flawless operationally until this, however what with this major bug and the gradually delaminating screen I’m sorely tempted to return to Garmin. Also not great if you subscribe to paid for features that require a working head unit!

We’re aware of a firmware issue currently affecting first-generation ELEMNT devices. Our team is investigating and will release a firmware update to resolve the problem as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!

Same. I switched it on and off several times and did the factory reset but still no joy.

Very frustrating.

My device has just updated. Was that the fix?

I completed a factory reset, whilst the issue isn’t as bad I am still losing GPS signal

I have exactly the same issue since 17/8

Thanks for this (not on X) thought my ever reliable Wahoo Element was dead….only had it 9 years …

Wahoo, that fantastic American company, decided we should upgrade to a newer model?
Now it will be, but from Garmin

Today I also noticed the exact same issue!

Afternoon E-Mtb Ride. Wrong Date Again

Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt is acting crazy.

2025 August 19th time is 1 hour off.

I assume the time is off because of daylight savings time.

Before my ride I reset the time and date to 2025 August 19th made sure it was reading right before I took off riding and when I got done an hour later it had the wrong date and time

Oh I kept on losing GPS signal and wouldn’t register speed or restart the ride it would lose signal and pause ride while I was riding

Same issue, is there anywhere you could track progress, or get updates on status of fix.

Unfortunately the GPS becomes pretty useless when the basic function does not even work.

2 days is very long for a big as Wahoo

Updates for the issue can be found below. Fingers crossed this works and we can get back to using ‘computers’ very soon. I can’t help but think that Wahoo knew this was going to happen when it refers to a ‘limited 10-bit system’.

Few…I was worried that my boltv1 was broken. First ever issue since I bought this years ago! I’m glad wahoo are on it with fixing bugs quickly and regular updates.

I don’t know what like Garmin are now, but back then garmins were riddled with bugs and it was just part of life that garmins crashed and would lose a ride occasionally. Never with the wahoo until now. I’m sure they will update quickly
