Glad I managed once last hurrah though the SUF library last month.
those grabs from the old PS?
my very quick look looks like the new video doesnt have much actual climbing in it?
cancelled from my list of favorites. boring as f***, TTBS re-introduced, quite literally going downhill all the way
whoever did this obviously had enough energy to unSUF all the prompts and add a few OnLoc features, but not to choose decent footage. makes the challenging Tour of the Alps (look) completely flat
so warrior is OK but Sufferlandrian isnāt
yeah right, after a solo finish
so itās American spelling now?
this is ridiculous, whoever doesnāt know how Sufferlandrian jokes actually work shouldnāt even try. teaching geography in a chemistry lab would be a lot less embarrassing.
I really loved that video.. Would have liked a heads-up, to do it one last time.
It seems the company is moving quite fast in removing the Suff content. I guess it was fun while it lastedā¦
How long before 9H is De-Suffed or even removed completely, as we wouldnāt want anyone to exert themselves too much now wouldnāt we!
āThe Companyā (I canāt even use their name now due to the ill will I have for them) is making a real shambles of this now.
Sir Isi has it nailed aboveā¦
absolutely. a short notification would have been nice, and perhaps not removing downloads
I keep (or rather kept Iām afraid) all my favourites downloaded to make sure theyāre quickly available. during the trundle around week in February some videos had an extra DPF ending that was removed afterwards, but downloaded videos remained on the device. same with remastered videos when Sir FranƧois was still responsible for SUF content. nothing thatās currently being done to us Sufferlandrians really makes sense
On screen caption: āget ready to grind in low cadenceā, cue video: peloton riding downhill spinning like mad or freewheeling⦠I rest my case.
Nice. This is āthe companyā telling you youāre an idiot.
I donāt want to sound like a mad conspiracy theorist but⦠at first, it felt like incompetence and ignorance of what made Sufferfest special (as a customer retention mechanism if you want to look at it from purely a mercantile angle) but the more it goes on, the more it feels like itās a deliberate attempt at pushing Sufferlandrians away. Like theyāre the embarrassing uncles amongst the cool cats⦠And if not deliberate, then itās just how it feels and thatās all that matters.
This is the worst thing about the changes for me, just lazy editing. They just arenāt getting the level of care and attention they used to, which when I am still paying the same feels wrong. Like others have said, Iām clinging on for now as still think itās the best platform due to the legacy content, but it is on a downwards trajectory, so on the other hand I donāt want to keep handing wahoo money for them to make the product worse. Renewal is up in August, will see what happens between now and then. Maybe best to pull out now, rather than hang on to the bitter end and hope that when people stop paying wahoo will finally listen, then we can come back once they fix it, and if they donāt then leaving will have been the right decision anyway.
Iām sure it takes āsomeā effort but it shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what makes a SUF vid special. If the on screen cycling action doesnt match our efforts (as in we are grinding it out at or near or above threshold and the riders on screen are coasting, on a flat or descending it just totally disengages the user (i.e. US).
It was one of the reasons I absolutely HATED doing structured workouts on Zwift or RGT or TPv or any other sim. My effort and my gearing just did not match the screen content and as a consequence, Iād be bored and disconnected from what I was doing, aka TTBS.
Also, the humour hit right when you hurt where the āhumourā in this thing misses.
I agree.
I have just cancelled my auto renewal and in doing so submitted feedback as to why. This is an option to all of us and may make them sit up and listen once their finance team see auto renewals dropping off. Money talks.
As much as I hate to say it, I honestly just donāt think they care. If they did, SOMEONE, would be reading our topics in the forums and relaying our dissatisfaction back to corporateā¦.and they might just beā¦.and they just donāt care. I really donāt want to say that or think that but to be honest, they have really left us no other choice but to think that.
I think you are right, but I think that they donāt care what we think so long as the money keeps coming in. If enough people started turning off auto subscription to signal their intent to leave, they would start to care. All the time we have auto renewal on, theyāll think they can ignore us as we are still paying.
Unless the strategy is to harvest the platform. Make money from it with minimal investment until people drift away. Then you close it claiming lack of interest.
Personally, Iāve become a visitor only, a month to month subscriber, with no interest in signing up for annual membership anymore. Even though I think SYSTM is the best possible match for me for the limited indoor training I will do, it is absolutely NOT worth paying the money throughout the warm season, when I may not ride indoors 3 times in a month. (I would PREFER to pay annually but thereās no logic in that economy now.)
I do not use ANY of the other facets that SYSTM offers and donāt expect to. Are they of value? Sure, to some, maybe even to many, but I doubt to even a majority of users. Certainly not to me.
So the BEST THINGS SYSTM HAS GOING FOR IT ARE
-
a solid 4DP Profile approach, intriguing, practical, logical, and feels like it connects to a userās experience, whether from a training perspective or just confirming oneās sense of strengths and weaknesses.
-
a very distinct group of video workouts in the Sufferlandria tradition that just arenāt found in other platforms. Thankfully, many of these videos are still greatly entertaining at the same time as brutally challenging, even punishing, in a sort of masochistic self-torturing way. Any real athlete in endurance/strength/power sports learns that these efforts are not only necessary, but are a WONDERFUL REWARD in themselves, whether one ever engages in public competitions or not. These workout sessions ARE the PRIZE!
The TRAGEDY is to realize that quite possibly those whose task it is to steer and direct and guard this legacy, as well as to BUILD UPON IT, may actually NOT GRASP THE SIGNIFICANCE of the TREASURE!..
May not even realize how unique, how engaging, how motivating and gripping these workouts ARE.
And these craftsman masterpieces did NOT HAPPEN TO EVOLVE from primordial slime! They were CREATED!! By thinking, feeling, intuitive persons who unquestionably understood the nature of the athletes they served, and who knew how to draw US into combat so that we WILLINGLY SACRIFICED WHAT MUST NOT BE WITHHELD!
Thus, after every such brilliantly constructed session, we got down off the battle-steed with the definite knowledge that we had fought a fight that day! Some days, we were conquerors! Some days, we had been beaten. But ALL DAYS, WE KNEW WE WOULD COME BACK TO THE BATTLE AGAIN AND FIGHT!
WHAT IS TO BECOME OF THIS LEGACY?
Is it even conceivable that it would be tossed into the trashcan of mismanagement? Unappreciated, devalued, uncared for?
**REALLY? REALLY??? **
Are you SERIOUS WITH ME RIGHT NOW?
I MOURN the loss of enlightened creativity in the face of dimwittedness and purely artificial intelligence, which, given opportunity and lacking opponents, will surely drag down uncaring souls to their slimy and fitting demiseā¦
If a clod be washed away by the seaā¦
This was in my top three favorites easily. This just stinks. BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Mine as well sir. One of my all time favorites and yes, it does stinkš¢. Another one ruined. I would love to know more about these so called ālicensing issuesā.
