Thank so much for posting these two books. In putting them on hold at my library, I noticed that a revised issue of 2014’s Roar is coming out January 2024.
I also would appreciate SYSTM plans that adapt to age, gender, and menopausal status as a 58yo woman.
As a 71 year old male athlete, I do not find the SYSTM plans of too much use.
I suspect, based on my experience, that for athletes in your situation, there is too much variability for adapting to age, gender, or menopausal status.
Just to pick a simple example, my recovery needs vary all over the place, and real-world stress affects it much more than when I was younger.
Such is life as we grow older. Sadly, no out-of-the-boc solution works for us and most AI generated plans fail as well. Only we know what works for us.
I’m glad I put them on your radar. I’ve heard great things about the author from a couple of friends, and she seems to be on every podcast about women’s health and physical fitness lately. As usual, it’s going to take male-dominated organizations like Wahoo a while to catch up. Or not. Until then, I’ll just wonder if my FTP is so low because the program is designed for a 27-year old guy.
FYI - The revised edition of ROAR came out LAST January. It’s 2025 coming up
But it would be so much easier to get through the tuff bits if I was more confident that the plan I’m following works for me. I guess I just have to suck it up! But I’m used to that!
You might look at intervals.icu or Xert to give you an idea of your training status. Some of the head units or watches also can give you some feedback.
