FTP update

Hello there

I have some simple questions which have surely already been answered:

I have FTP of 142 but I work easily at 190 watts in ERG mod 52x11

I guess that my real FTP is above 142, so I would like to do a proper FTP test to know my current level.

  1. How do I do that with the kickr Core? which mod do I use?
    ERG?
    passive / off mod?
    target power?

  2. Cogan Allen test

thank you for your answers!

Bertrand

If you’re using SYSTM then the most accurate test would be via the Full Frontal test. You’d use level mode (i.e. changing gears yourself). The advantage to using SYSTM is their test includes 2x5 second sprint efforts, a 5 minute MAP (maximal aerobic power) test, a 20 minute FTP test then a 1 minute AC (anaerobic capacity) test. It’s brutal and takes some time to pace it well, but imho, it’s probably the most well rounded fitness test for cycling that is available to the general public.

You can read more about fitness testing in SYSTM here https://support.wahoofitness.com/hc/en-us/sections/4403352526610-4DP-and-Fitness-Assessments-Full-Frontal-and-Half-Monty

Glen has pretty well nailed it above.
I would also ask where you got your current ftp from?
Was it from a fitness test, or was it Systm’s guess based on your acitivity and history?
I would manually set it in Systm to 190, and have a crack at Full Frontal. If that sounds too intimidating, then set it to 190w and do a ramp test instead (Half Monty).
