GARMIN warns me they're gonna delete my account

Woke up to this email from Garmin. Felt vaguely threatening. YELLING AT ME IN LARGE BOLD FONT AND ALL CAPS!!!

Sort of a “Shape up or Ship out!!” kinda thing :joy:

I guess my training HAS been “unproductive” after all :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

To be fair to them, a few years back, I created a second account when I was having issues, since resolved, with my primary one which is still sorta kinda active(ish). Ever since getting my ROAM v2 I haven’t used my Garmin computer (just sold it actually) but I still use the Varia Radar (arguably the best bit of cycling tech I’ve ever purchased).

Legit or phishing?

Totally legit, and my first thought too!

I checked the email it came from. And it’s actually a fair statement. That account hasn’t been used in years. My primary account is still active.

When you say you checked the email it came from, do you mean the address the email says it came from?

That can be easily spoofed, just as you can put any address as the return address on a postal letter.

It was alerts@notifications.garmin.com

And the only thing was the warning. It said I could sign in at garmin and it wouldn’t get deleted. I’m really not worried.

I got this same warning earlier this year. I also had two accounts. And they’re deleting my old account which has near nothing in it. So I’m okay with that.

Had this same email last year or something and it’s quite surprising because I am actively uploading my rides the Garmin Connect although I don’t physically sign-in on the browser.

Remember it was last year or the year before, that their servers got hacked or something?

I’m in no way concerned. My post was a feeble and failed attempt at mocking Garmin. :older_man:t2:

From now known as That Other Company ™

:joy: I think the reason I was keeping a garmin account was to make occasional routes cuz I refuse to pay for Strava for a bunch of features I don’t need/use/want. Now, since RWGPS allows that, I don’t rightly know why I’m keeping my primary account with That Other Company ™

I love this and from hereinafter it shall be referred to as that :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:,
I worked with them for a while previously but had nothing to do with the sports and fitness equipment.
