I’m not exactly a fitness pro, I’m 69 and not in great shape, but I’ve been riding for most of my adult life. I’m getting around 660 watts with a heart rate of 136 in the wahoo ap, which seems a bit off :-}. I don’t have the cadence sensor yet, but I ordered one. I can control the resistance manually in the Wahoo app, as you can see in the second test labeled ‘test two’.
For some reason, the Kickr doesn’t seem to be adjusting the resistance much and is giving me inaccurate power readings. I’ve spent quite a bit of time trying to figure this out. I’ve made sure that nothing else is attached to the wahoo fitness app, except for the kicker and the wahoo. Heart rate monitor. No other apps are open on my iPad.
I warmed the unit up and ran the spin down twice, restarted the kick etc.
Any direction would be sincerely appreciated.
Hey @davidstence, welcome to the forums. You say:
but nothing is showing here. Were you trying to show a picture?
From what you’ve said, the only app you are using to control the Kickr is the Wahoo App? When you say that, do you mean Wahoo SYSTM or the Wahoo App? I ask as these are 2 separate things. SYSTM being the app with vids, and plans and includes yoga, strength and mental training while the Wahoo App is, at this time, intended for recording rides/runs and other activities as well as the app for making sure your sensors (like your Kickr and Heart rate monitor) are connected and, if the HRM is a wahoo product, making sure it’s got the latest firmware. It also shows history and other stuff.
So, here are some things I’d suggest, pending your answers to the above:
- Turn your bluetooth on your iPad off/and on again.
- Restart your iPad
- Using the Wahoo App, make sure your Kickr (and HRM if it’s a wahoo unit) are on the latest firmware. You’ll know if it shows as connected and prompts you for an update.
- when you say you can control the resistance manually in the wahoo app, do you mean by tapping increase resistance?
Fwiw, an HR of 136 at 660 watts certainly seems off to me too. When you say the Kickr doesnt seem to be adjusting resistance much, what app are you using where you are not feeling the resistance adjustment?
Sorry for the maybe silly questions, but, and it might be me, I’m not 100% clear on what you are trying to do or what app or apps you’re using to try to do it.
I’m using the Fitness app for everything. When you tap on the control button in that app, it gives you some options and the one I’m using is resistance that’s where I can manually set the assistance of the trainer. Thanks for your questions and input.
And yes, I believe I’m on the latest firmware because it’s not showing me an option to update it in the Wahoo Fitness app.
Any luck with my suggestions?
If not, you should probably contact support
After multiple spin down tests Wahoo Support is saying that the trainer is faulty with inconsistent power readings, etc. they are offering a discounted replacement with a 2020 model. Appreciate your help very much thank you!
