Kickr Bike V1 random resistance confusion

Recently my kickr bike v1 has on several occasions refused to shift. The last time this happened it suddenly downshifted to the easiest gear but the resistance was very high. The only thing that works is to unplug it and then plug it back in. The bike returns to normal shifting immediately and the error does not recur during that session and may not happen for many sessions. I had a completely normal 90 minute session today with prefect shifting. It has occurred twice after completing an ERG training session, but the last episode was during a regular ride - all on Zwift.

Anyone else having this issue? Is the bike getting ready to die on me?

I have not had this problem, this is just a suggestion - have you tried the recommended routine maintenance of the shifter plugs - cleaning with alcohol.

Thanks for the reply. I have cleaned the plugs in the past but I’ll give it another try. Not sure why rebooting would solve that issue so quickly though.

I haven’t run into this myself, but if unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes the problem every time, I’d be surprised if the shifter plugs are the whole issue.

I’ve had plenty of electronics do weird things over the years where a quick reboot magically solves it for a while. The fact that it can then work perfectly for multiple rides makes it seem more like an occasional glitch than a hardware failure, at least from the outside.

I’d still clean the connections since it’s easy enough to do, but I’d also keep an eye on whether it starts happening more often. Hopefully it’s just one of those annoying random bugs and not the start of something more serious.
