KICKR Bike V2 — Tilt and Shifters Freeze After a Few Minutes (Derailleur Error) – Ticket #2116997

Hi everyone,

I’m still facing a recurring issue with my KICKR Bike V2 (firmware 2.2.22 / Wi-Fi 1.0.16) since Zwift 1.97, and I haven’t received a reply from support yet (ticket #2116997, opened more than 7 days ago).

After a few minutes of riding, the following happens:

  • Tilt stops responding (no reaction to gradients)

  • Shifters and buttons freeze

  • Gear display is stuck on the bike

  • The Wahoo app shows “Derailleur Error – it seems the derailleurs are disconnected”

  • Resistance still works, but I have to power-cycle the bike to recover control

What I’ve already tested:

  • ANT+, Bluetooth (via Companion bridge), and Direct Connect (RJ45) — same issue after a few minutes

  • Different power outlets and a surge protector

  • Removing all other Bluetooth connections

  • Re-pairing the bike in the Wahoo app

  • Firmware reinstall (confirmed current 2.2.22)

It looks like an internal communication loss between the Handlebar Control Board and the Main Board (CAN bus freeze).

This problem also occurs without Zwift (just in the Wahoo app), so it seems firmware-related.

Could someone from Wahoo please confirm if this issue is known and being investigated, and if a firmware update or replacement kit (Handlebar Control Board + CAN cable) is planned?

Thanks a lot for your help and for escalating my case.

Update of the situation —–

I’ve received and installed the new handlebar assembly as instructed. Unfortunately, the issue persists exactly as before.

After about 30 minutes of use, the shifters froze, the gear display stopped updating, and the Wahoo app showed the “Derailleur Error – it seems the derailleurs are disconnected” message. Resistance control continued to work normally.

This confirms that the failure is not related to the shifters or handlebar assembly, but rather to the control board inside the front display module (the PCB permanently attached to the frame). The symptoms clearly indicate a communication crash between the Handlebar Control Board and the Main Control Board.

Just got word that CS has your new ticket and should be following up soon!

 No news

Hello Helga,
I can imagine CS is super busy, so I’ve already offered to make a call to avoid the 2 to 3 days delay between 2 posts :frowning:.
I’m ready to pay for a new bike, but how can we move forward if I get no answer?
