Knighthood Quest: 2 September 2024

Labor Day is coming up, and how best to celebrate it than by performing ten Labors of sub-Herculean strength?

I am raising money for two worthy local organizations:

Bikes Not Bombs: bikesnotbombs.orgfacebook fundraising link

Food For Free: foodforfree.orgfacebook fundraising link

The labors themselves:

  1. The Omnium
  2. Butter
  3. The Shovel
  4. The Rookie
  5. Who Dares
  6. 14 Vise Grips
  7. Power Station
  8. Do As You’re Told
  9. Nine Hammers
  10. The Trick

Welcome to the forum!
This some disgustingly dreadful Menu d’Suffering especially having 9H at number #9

Lovely looking menu you got there, Timothy! And WELCOME to the forums.

By the way, there’s nothing “sub” about the Herculean strength you’ll need to get it done. Putting The Trick at #10 will be, erm, interesting :grimacing:

As for your fundraising efforts, I wish you all the best. It’s great to have something, in addition to the decals, to add to the reason why you’re doing this to yourself

Fwiw, I’ve been the victim of some bike snot bombs myself, so…  :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously though, Bikes Not Bombs looks like a pretty cool organization as does Food for Free. If I ever manage to get to Boston, once you have been officially dubbed Sir Timothy, I’ll have to hit you up.

As for now, all I can say is:

This looks fantastically aweful!

Yes, The Trick at #10 means that the last 15 minutes or so will be something. I am not sure what, but definitely something.

Thank you Sir Glen. It will certainly be something. Maybe a ball of exploding Glory?

Better not let the mind play tricks on you Tim @supergrover.
You got this!

I am actually excited to ‘witness’ your glorious suffering and will try to be on as much to provide some form of mentally sound support

I finished this morning my last long endurance ride in preparation for Labor Day’s Labors (9 hours 5 minutes, 205 km, a brevet with the local randonneurs).

Good news: Saw two deer and an owl zip across the road in front of me.
Bad news: Got a flat at 1:30 am on a deserted road.
Good news: Police officer stops at 1:32 to make sure I’m okay and seems both bemused and amused that t]my being there was part of an actually organized event.
Bad news: Felt extra sleepy at 5:30 am.
Good news: Will be doing the Knighthood Quest at a sane time of day, where I don’t have to worry about skunks or SUVs runnign stop signs.

The time of day may be the only sane thing about it! Looks like a wonderfully miserable Quest you’ve got lined up. Crush it! And best of luck with the fundraising, those are two great organizations.

Omnium done. Why doesn’t GVA do the eliminations at the world championships? Also, I don’t know what would be worse—the kilo or the insane trials course…

The kilo is no longer part of the current Omnium.

I see you’re smoothing things out with buttah. Delightful! Bring on ALL the sufferin’

Butter down. I wonder if anyone told the Lidl-QuickStep rider who took pulls between intervals 6 and 7 that he was losing a bunch of watts keeping his mouth so open!

That is how I got stung by a wasp on my tongue a couple years back. It is also how I swallowed a deer fly on a local climb.

Now, get digging. I have coffee’s to drink and interwebs to troll.

How about some SUF face pics while you’re still, erm, fresh?
