Did rollercoaster today for the first time. My review, not bad but not Suffing great.
Video: Starts off well, see where they were going but then just bland, no real story, it just doesnât hang together. Some odd cutting of footage, e.g. why doesnât the final effort finish when Pidcock reaches the line, rather than just before. Itâs missing the little extras like the âenterpainmentâ logo in Attacker, the odd laser goat, the motivational bits that tell you that whilst it may hurt, it hurts for everyone else, so dig in and not a shredded chamois in sight!
Workout: Decent workout, itâs hard. I have had a hard few days and think I am coming down with something, niggle of a sore throat this evening (not an excuse just context), so I am by no means fresh but it was tough so all good there.
Edit: another thought on the workout is that we are quite well catered for in the 45 - 60 min MAP based workout space. Sufferfest has much less choice when it comes to AC workouts or longer (over 90 min) workouts, so perhaps future additions could expand those offerings.
Rollercoaster just hasnât got the essence of a good Sufferfest video, it doesnât fire you up, I got a bit bored of the video.
In summary, did I enjoy it, yeh it was ok, but will I be coming back to the park soon⌠No Iâll go do 14 Vise Grips instead and see if I can finally spot that message I am told is there, something about âyou probably wonât even see this as youâre too busy chewing stem.â
@Rupert I expect nothing but hopefully some constructive feedback.
Adding to the above, there have been good editions to the Sufferfest library since Wahoo took over, e.g. no place like home, high time and the model are all great, but Rollercoaster seems to continue the theme of the recent remasters and has really dumbed down the Suffness, which whilst I understand the Sufferfest may not appeal to all, leaves this video in a sort of no manâs land, itâs just a workout with no story line and some loosely related footage and no real encouragement, at which point what is it offering above trainer road, as youâre going to need to watch something else if doing this one a few times.
I can just barely, and I mean âbarelyâ get through Joyride @ 100% power but @ only 80rpms which only has 5 MAP intervals. How in the F! am I supposed to get through Rollercoaster at 100% power with 16 MAP intervals!?!?
Ah ok. Quite late in the tour though wasnât it, so you wonât have been fresh. I nearly cracked on the third to last interval, but wasnât fresh either. Fresh legs rather than 6th day of a tour might be very different
One would argue those have nothing to do with âThe Companyâ as they were released when the (gradually shrinking) original Sufferfest crew were still around.
I remember being in Switzerland on a visit and we were told to be at the coach at 2pm and having been used to living in Germany for several years, I was of course on time, dot on 2pm, but that is late in Switzerland, you are meant to be 2 minutes early apparently!!
Iâm looking forward to this one, looks a good session focused on VO2, alas I need to get back up to speed after nearly 3 weeks off with the ManFlu, boy was it bad, I wasnât off the bike much longer after Covid!! Good to get some new Suff output, but your reviews seem to suggest it is not full Suff. Do they not have a suggestion box?? Do they not reach out to the community here? There would be so many awesome Sufferlandrians on here who would happily contribute with ideas and content for the videos to add interest to the Wahoo Sports scientists workouts!!
I see that this video has been remastered. Were the sections that some people found objectionable removed? I have been holding off on doing the workout because of these objections.
I just want to comment that I havenât found the time to dig around for a Wahoo contact email to formally send them a concern/ask them to read concerns here.
There must be a contact form or email address somewhere within the app or their store website.
I think I have seen others state that Wahoo doesnât monitor these forums anymore so I guess yes a chance they really still have no idea.
This is on my to do list for the weekend
I donât think it would take much to remove the sketchy vibes/looks they have accidentally put in.
Last night I just did âNo Place Like homeâ @David.McQuillen.KoS 's swan song. Wahoo needs to watch that as a Masterclass on how to do it. Right from the start with the Lazy Rides, Lazy Yoga and Recovery Naps, to the plane landing and passport control with the Rammstein inspired music and the call to Grunter, the first SCQA check, right up to the âI was born to Sufferâ (Brand, Alverado, Betsema) and the Procrastinate Check and the Choral outro, a complete masterpiece. Storyline, wide variety of music and the racing clips (including the Moskestraat near where I live in Belgium and the S-Bocht finish of the Brabantse Pijl), totally awesome. The Wahoo guys need to be made to do EVERY Sufferfest workout before making a new one to immerse themselves in the wonderful Sufferlandrian culture.
