Get ready for a workout designed to take you on a wild ride of intensity and focus. RollerCoaster pushes you near your VO2 max, with intervals carefully broken into smaller chunks that gradually build to your peak effort before dropping slightly to keep you going. These dynamic shifts allow you to sustain high-intensity work without hitting your absolute limit the entire time. The structure ensures maximum time spent near VO2 max, boosting endurance and power while helping you mentally tackle each challenge one manageable piece at a time.
Recovery is tailored to the effort you just completed, giving your legs the reset they need to dive into the next wave of intensity. Paired with inspiring footage of the Brabantsje Pils Spring Classics, you’ll feel the grit of the cobbles and the thrill of the chase as you power through climbs and recover on the descents. Remember: keep your form smooth, your breathing controlled, and your mind locked into each effort. Treat every interval as a race within the ride. The dips in intensity are there to help you, not let you off the hook—this is one ride you won’t forget!
Two comments though. First there is a disclaimer that the time uses Sufferfest timing so they may vary. Really! Anyone who is familiar with the classic Sufferfest rides knows the minions are the worlds worst timekeepers. In fact, I think they are banned from Switzerland in perpetuity.
Second (as it relates to the first), the matching recoveries…aren’t.
Looking forward to doing this. Have slotted it into my training plan for week after next (rest week this coming week and tempting as it is to do it anyway the training plan is working so sticking to it).
There really wasn’t much at all. There was a lot of just riding. I think they may lack the in house talent to really put out true Sufferfest vids anymore.
Like many here, I have been critical of the lack of direction or effort to build this platform for those of use that they acquired from Sufferfest, but I will give them their due. I do think it is one of their better new workouts when you get into the meat of the ride.
the workout as such is pretty awesome, the rest imo is far from it. my honest advice: leave the sound cues, turn off the video and the music, put something interesting/ exciting / fun / whatever on your screen and feel like a Sufferlandrian
HONOUR GLORY VICTORY
Did Rollercoaster today. I expected it to be tougher than it was but actually found it easier than expected. A good workout, though, and honestly, I thought it was pretty good overall. No, it’s not classic Sufferlandrian, story line is tame by comparisons, but it held my interest well enough with the race video and some much appreciated grade changes that my KICKR Bike matched up with the terrain. (Sure wish this was incorporated FAR MORE in SYSTM; if not in WAHOO’s app, WHERE ELSE should it be? Come on, WAHOO, make the KICKR BIKE WORK AS DESIGNED!)
When I got to the 4th to last interval, I was finally feeling that maybe it was going to start kicking me a bit harder, but it really didn’t and I felt so good at the end that I quickly saved the workout, and then started The Cure, skipped past the warmup and did the rest of the workout, 3 sets of MAP intervals, and felt good through those too.
Must’a been my day today! Last day at 66 years old has been a good one!

There have been some tone-deaf aspects to the output recently but who on Earth decided that it was appropriate to fill the gaps between intervals with lingering slow motion videos of children at play accompanied by songs like “sweetie thank you” or the large caption “what a ride”? In all seriousness, if I were to see someone at a gym watching videos like this I would consider reporting them. Perhaps I’m over-sensitive but as a paediatric doctor who has unfortunately been involved in child protection cases I find these choices questionable at best.
I watched it and for the first couple of minutes was encouraged by mentions of donuts and couch people and then…nothing. WHile the workout looks brutal there is no story, no humor and definitely no SUF.
Wahoo really seems to have watered down SUF to the point that it no longer exists except in the legacy videos which, no doubt, will be watered down in the same way Primers, etc. have been.
Aside from the incredible SUF videos (Sir Francis and SIr David’s creations including pro-rides) there are no workouts that really differentiate from Rouvy (or a plethora of other vanilla training platforms).
Crying shame - having done 9 hammers last week, it made me yearn for the older days. Brutal workout, classic tracks and incredibly motivational with tongue in cheek humor.
I considered the advice to turn it off, but felt I needed to at least decide for myself the first go-round.
I actually found the race video useful for my own focus and motivation, placing myself mentally among the riders and just working along with them. The music was at least often an appropriate beat for the cadence demands of the workout, which I also felt were good for my needs, having done several very slow cadence workouts lately. The uptick helped balance that out, enough so that on my outdoor ride yesterday, I found it easier than expected to hold higher cadence but still stay mainly in Zone2 HR.
It worked for me.
I found the Rollercoaster workout quite hard. The music beat matched the efforts. But the video was more warm and fluffy than previous Sufferfest videos. I think some people will find it inspirational and will enjoy it, however I did not. I find the dark humour of past Sufferfest videos much more inspirational, and has dug me out of many a hole. I hope this is a one off and that future videos do not go in this direction or even worse, I hope that past videos are not remastered in this style.
