If this is true, it’s a Garmin 1050 killer. I’ll be happy to see what it’s like when the box is opened as I will soon have to replace my Garmin 830 as Garmin is no longer supporting it in any fashion (if your 830 breaks, you are advised to buy an 840 at full retail, no more discounts.

I have an Elmt Roam with a struggling charging port. I am sure once I give in and buy a replacement, it will only be a few days later the new Element Ace will come out.

I just don’t understand the use of touchscreens on bike computers.

I do not understand why there are touch screens on telephones, but I have learned to accept them. Using maps on my Karoo is MUCH easier than on my Element without a touch screen. However, touch screens suck when wet and with gloves. Best of both worlds to have both buttons and screen and everyone is happy

What I don’t understand is why my Garmin EDGE 840 touch screen works better than my phone, at least when wearing the cycling gloves I use. The stupid phone, a Samsung S24 ULTRA is very resistant to receiving the touches from the gloves and yet the EDGE does very well with it!

Agree with this totally! The EDGE 840 has both touch screen AND buttons, so you always have options. The touch screen can get finicky if it is raining enough, and that’s when the buttons are great to have, as long as you can remember what button does what. Garmin did improve the logic of the buttons on the 840, which helped a lot in that regard.
I DEFINITELY am happy to have the touch screen for normal usage.
