Rupert, will we have a New Year/January challenge?

I was surprised to see End Game workouts still highlighted. Give us a challenge.
@Magnito I have to say, I am a bit surprised that we don’t have a new, “New Year” challenge today for the month of January
. I wonder if they have done away with the monthly challenges? I hope not.
Honestly, I need to get back into structure, and the challenges kind of messes with structure. Still, having the opportunity feels good, and it is a great fallback in case structure fails.
I’m betting they’re just on vacation still… task just might have gotten lost in the year-end shuffle.
@Magnito Same. I used to be all about structured training, following plans, etc but I’ll be completely honest, I haven’t done any real structured training for a few years now. I went through a really bad mental crisis a few year ago which put a big damper on my riding and training and I just haven’t been able to rebound with good, structured training since. I want to. I try to. I add plans and try like hell to follow them but something always seems to sidetrack me and then I just can’t get back into the groove. That crisis changed me. Today I’m going to do the 1hr, 12 Med. Coast On Location ride to kick the New Year. I hope you have a great 2026!
@sc235813 Well, I’m not sure about that. The December challenge was still showing on the home page yesterday. This morning it’s gone. I’m assuming it was atomically set to disappear from the home page after the official end of December so, If that’s the case, I don’t see why a January Challenge couldn’t have been set to automatically take its place on January 1st plus, I didn’t get a reply from anyone at Wahoo regarding my inquiry here about a January challenge. With all of that being said, I’m no “tech genius” so I could be way of the mark here. Hopefully we get a January challenge.
Yes - thread link is off the home page, but I still see the December stuff on the cycling library page. Will keep fingers crossed.
Based on the pre-remastered Joyride… (the screenshots which i unfortunately didn’t get before it was remastered
)
Maybe the group enjoyed too many lactic acid shots at their NYE party last night and we’re on our own to create the January 2026 New Year challenge.
So I went ahead and I’ve mashed up an idea for a challenge with plenty of pain shakes and pain suckers:
- Half is Easy (mash-up)
- Revolver is Easy (mash-up)
- The Best Way is Blended (mash-up)
- The Tool shed (mash-up)
No need to thank me now.
With the taint of alcohol still on my breath, I just did “soul of a cyclist” from the inspiration bucket. I am happy I didn’t see this (emacdoug’s) list before I went down.
Is it possible to get a copy of the pre-remastered JOyride from anywhere? I almost cried after I did (for the only time) the remastered Joyride which is, frankly, an insult to it’s predecessor
If so, that would be stupendous. That was a such a great workout. One of my first SUF rides. Loved every second of it.
Thank you, i did this one ont he same day. very fun.
Nothing? Don’t even want to entice the New Years Resolution types with a carrot?
Happy New Year everyone!
Sorry for the delay, I was caught in a couchlandrian time warp for a few days there but managed to work my way out of it!
The January Kick Start Challenge is up and running, all details available here:
Took late for me.. One is my resolutions is to only chase monthly badges if they align with my personal plan and life schedule for the month.
I find myself pushing too hard to add the badge workouts when I don’t need them.
Thank you for this months challenge Rupert ![]()
Better late than never, I guess.
The time required for a few of the January Challenge workouts is sooooo short, it’s almost not worth getting on the bike.
Supplemental Suffering will be necessary those days.
I have joined a January virtual fitness challenge to keep myself moving daily. Where we can choose own activity (walk/run/cycle) and do it anytime, anywhere.
