Problems with Wahoo App

I have a Kickr Core and use Wahoo HRM and Cadence sensors.

Recently I stopped using TrainerRoad and moved t TrainingPeaks. I am still getting to grips with designing and creating a programme to suit my cycling goals but am managing to create sessions week to week. I export the TP session to my Wahoo account and then use an Android phone on my handlebars to run the session on the Wahoo App.

I have two issues. The first happens in all workouts. Basically my cadence readings are all over the place. My “natural” cadence comfort zone is 90-100 rpm. I can sustain 110 for a while, at 115 I start to bounce. Yet a few days ago the app was showing me at 120-130rpm for sustained periods. Sometimes it drops to zero then 50 then shows a number which reflects my actual cadence. It rarely settles for any period of time. The battery in the sensor was changed about 3 weeks ago. TrainerRoad seemed to be much, much more steady in the cadence display. The trainer seems to have the most recent firmware installed.

Is the issue with the Wahoo App the trainer or the sensor? Does TrainerRoad have smarter smoothing software?

The other issue happened once but was much more of a pain. This morning the Wahoo App crashed mid session. When I opened it again (still cycling at this point) I was offered a “Resume” option which I chose. It crashed again. I opened it again and chose “Resume”. At that point the app was in “Passive” mode and there was no sign of the session imported from TrainingPeaks. The Wahoo App is not showing any updates needed.

I have only recently started using this app for my sessions so don’t have a feel if this is a frequent issue. Anyone else experience it?

If it happens often what other apps can I use to run a session from TrainingPeaks?

I could move to my Elemnt Roam but the screen is a bit basic.

This is the cadence trace over 30 mins

I have a similar cadence problem. I susspect it has to do with the Kickr Core, but do not know why. I would like to learn from your experiences.

I use an Elite Suito and have trained with Sufferfest for a couple of years. Had this problem since day 1. Thought it was the Elite, they assured me nothing could ever possibly be wrong with their product. I learned to live with it because I never found a solution.

I had a problem with my Wahoo cadence sensor giving me random dropouts. I switched it from Bluetooth to Ant+ and that solved all my issues. Possibly from interference with too many sensors.

How do you have yours connected?
