Please I use my Wahoo and Elemnt Roam C29A for cycling and I am very pleased with it.
But over the past few months I have noticed high spikes in the reported HR, so I have been keeping my Wahoo in my pocket everyday and glancing at it to see what is happening. I am seeing my HR as very high.
But, I have been told that the Wahoo is not suitable for this and I should be using a wrist watch.
Advice please?
What heart rate monitor are you using? A Tickr?
I am using a Wahoo chest strap and a Wahoo Roam HM.
It’s my understanding that a chest strap that uses electrodes is always going to be more accurate than a wrist- or arm-based optical sensor. Have you changed the battery in your Tickr recently? Or manually checked your pulse when you’ve seen your heart rate allegedly going very high?
Richard, thanks a lot for the response. I really appreciate it. I am concerned about my heart just now, so need accurate measurements.
I am not sure what you mean by “Tickr”. I have just now changed the battery in the strap.
“Tickr” is what Wahoo calls their HRM’s. Your chest strap will be either a Tickr or TickrX.

Richard I am still concerned about the reliability of my heart rate measurements.
Sitting here now typing this, my Wahoo is showing 117, which can’t be correct. Taken manually, it is 60!
I have replaced the battery in my chest strap.
I am using saliva on the strap electrodes. Perhaps I need to use something better?
Should I try a new strap?
Do you have a Tickr V1 or V2, if its a v2 its probably faulty, the QC was notoriously bad.
If you feel at all unwell or feel like you HR really is going very high see a doctor.
