Spin down directly in new SYSTM app?

This is my understanding too, but it’s not that clear to me, TBH.

I am now doing the calibration every time, but it’s unclear how much it is doing „behind the scenes.“

It’s my understanding that it’s mainly the tire that “heats up”, gets more flexible, and less lossy after the warmup. Bearing drag etc should be negligible by comparison. This is going to be pretty similar on any wheel-on trainer. Trainers with smaller diameter rollers would see a bigger effect. What’s being calibrated is the drag produced by the tire on the roller, which depends on the tire, the condition of the tire, the tire pressure, the force against the roller and the tire’s temperature.
