Victor Campenaerts was interviewed by Matt Stephens. They spent several minutes chatting about victor’s mental approach to cycling. There’s a great quote about the ability to push harder and longer than your competitors by embracing the pain and suffering: don’t be afraid of the pain. Instead, welcome it as bringing you to something good. Roughly min 42-44.

Saw this article about Mike Cotty. Not quite the same as your post but I thought it was interesting what drives him to ride.

Also this article about Lachlan Morton wining Unbound was terrific and shows how he used mental focus and toughness - finding his “why”.
