I hatched a plan last night and made a semi-last minute decision to switch up workouts. I had planned to ride the old Thin Air as my final workout of the month.
But after a quick review of the remaster I was pretty certain I didn’t want to end with it anymore as it just isn’t the same. I’ve been considering if or how to switch it out, but hadn’t come to any conclusions.
Well, this weekend, while considering how brutal Violator was going to be after losing my rest day before it, I had a wonderful, awful, brilliant idea.
My abs are sore. I can definitely tell I’ve had limited riding time over the past few months. And after the first few days in GvApril, every interval workout has taxed my core. And boy can I feel it.
I am very grateful for yesterday’s rest day. Somehow I made it through Nine Hammers today. I’ve been using the tip from Rue the Day about preparing myself to suffer and accepting that the pain will happen and that seems to help.
Tomorrow is my wife’s arthroscopic knee surgery at 5:30am, so I am taking the day off. And then we’ll see how she’s feeling and how things go for my plan to do Angels on Friday.
I don’t know, honestly. I don’t really have either.
In fact, GvApril finally caught up with me this week. Even tho I rode for a shorter amount of time on Saturday, I was up early on Sunday to ride Blender which I didn’t do on Saturday, and that meant missing my rest day. Then I was up late almost every night this week including my son’s birthday. And then up early to ride. It’s a super busy time at work. And then up early again to take my wife to surgery, yesterday. Despite crashing on the couch for an hour yesterday afternoon while my wife was recovering in bed, my body decided I was really overdue for more rest, and this morning my body just said * NOPE! *
I fell asleep on the sofa bed last night shortly before 11pm with the plan to wake up at 6am to ride (instead of 5:30am). And even tho I slept like a log, when I did wake up my legs were aching and sore and I was exhausted. So I ended up sleeping in until 8am and completely missed today’s ride.
So, despite having two videos workouts scheduled almost every day for the rest of the month, I will have to find a spot to reschedule Angels. I foresee a bit more rescheduling of my remaining plans to fit it in.
So… here is my new plan for the rest of the month. If for any reason I need to skip another day, I’ll have to push things in to May. But, I’m hoping I can push through the remaining 12 days and get some much needed rest.
Oh boy, it’s about time you caught some kind of a breather! Take it easy (but only for now mind you) and hope you get great restoring rest before tomorrow comes. Chapeau, Sir Evan.
@Glen.Coutts And me. This afternoon I did Power Station reduced to 90%. First ride since April 8th when I bailed on the On Location - Provence workout after only 20 minutes.
