Wahoo April Challenge: Global Engine Building
This month, we’re packing our (virtual) bags and heading out into the world. While the spring racing season is in full swing, we’re focusing on one thing: building a better athlete.
Every legendary cyclist has a “home base,” but a truly versatile athlete is forged on unfamiliar roads. This month, we’ve curated four of our favourite On Location sessions to help you develop a more resilient, high-performance engine. From the windswept coastal rollers of Tasmania to the thin air of the Bavarian Alps, each ride is a specific building block for your fitness.
Expand your horizons, test your limits on iconic roads, and come out of April as a more complete rider—no passport required!
The 4 Workouts
Complete these four sessions to earn your badge:
- Tasmania - Cygnet Coast Road: Head to the southern hemisphere to build your “diesel engine” on rugged, rolling terrain. This session uses relentless “kickers” to develop the muscular endurance and explosive power needed to crest hills without losing momentum.
- Costa Blanca - Cumbre del Sol: Tackle one of the most feared finishes in the Vuelta a España to build high-intensity threshold and grit. This climb demands massive power under heavy muscular tension, forcing your body to adapt to steep, relentless double-digit gradients.
- Italian Lakes - Ghisallo: Focus on sustained climbing power and mental fortitude as you ascend toward the famous sanctuary overlooking Lake Como. This is a masterclass in “time in zone,” helping you find a relaxed, efficient rhythm during extended aerobic efforts.
- Bavaria - Oberjoch: Build top-end aerobic capacity and strength-endurance on this scenic alpine pass toward the Austrian border. By pushing your VO2 limits in the crisp German air, you’ll raise your fitness ceiling and make those sub-threshold efforts feel easier.

We have created a training plan for you this month with all the workouts on consecutive days for you to re-arranged throughout the month to suit your training schedule and earn your badge.
