SYSTM Tracking without Library

Had a look around but couldn’t see an answer for this… is there a way to use the sensor tracking abilities through the software without a training/workout at all?

As it’s all via ANT+ which is better I would rather use the desktop software to track my Speed/Cadence/HR with a YT video for instance via the system software rather than the phone app…

Thanks!

Yep, theretocally you can just run a no vid endurance vid of whatever duration you need in level mode, then just ride and ignore the targets and use your gears to get to the power and cadence you want. Put the whole thing in ribbon mode so you can overlay it on something else to watcn.

Not elegant but it will work. You can also use your head unit in a smilar way to record an indoor workout. Itll pick up ant+ as well

Thanks for the suggestion, forgot to mention I’m on the Free tier so limited to just basic’s, will have to rethink as wanted to avoid a full sub for just tracking!

Do you specifically want to ride while watching something else? Or just want to free ride?

If the latter…IndieVelo has a free tier and you can put in slope mode and free ride.
Or
Just use your bike computer in indoor mode.

Actually, there isn’t a mode where you can go in and just free ride with SYSTM. You have to do some sort of ride. However, the Wahoo App does have an indoor cycling mode. It’s limited to mobiles and tablets only though.

Yes, there is no pure “Free Ride” mode in SYSTM. there’s only an facsimile which is close enough that it works. But you still have to pick a workout to do it in.

You can pick any workout and put it in Level Mode and then switch gears as much as you want. I usually decide approximately how long I’m going to ride for and then pick one of the Open workouts (20, 30, 40, 45, 60, 120) or one of the Endurance workouts (+, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, etc.) and put it in manual Level 1 or 2 (unless I want a Z1 ride in which I’ll put it in Level 0). Then I can ride any gear or any type of workout I want.

But yeah, you still have to pick a workout to use.
