TEAM ALT TOUR STAGE 2 CONTEST

For all registered members of Team ALT TOUR #alttour

If memory serves correctly, Stage 2, The Way Out, involves climbing from a comfortable, Laser Goat riddled town, through some Mountain Passes to a much less comfortable, Laser Goat riddled town, with Sir Michael Cotty

Now if I’m totally mistaken about this, don’t bother correcting me, because I’m basing the Stage 2 contest and prize on the scenario as I just laid it out… right, wrong, or indifferent.

So, for this next drawing, Relate how you Elevate!

Give us a picture, digital or verbal, about how you climb out of things. How you pick up your attitude. How you overcome. That is the Gist of Team Alt Tour, anyway, isn’t it.

The prize you ask… Well, it’s something you see a lot of when riding with Sir Michael. A Sufferlandrian Mileage Marker, so you can always find your way back “Home.”

Win it here (or in the Forum)! Remember to tag your entry with #alttour and we’ll get to the drawing after Stage 2 closes.

Remember, Everybody Hurts, but Team Alt Tour has fun doing it!

TEAM ALT TOUR STAGE 3 CONTEST

For all registered members of Team ALT TOUR #alttour

With the start of Stage 3 just on the Horizon, and the Prologue wrapped up tighter than Eddy Merckx’s bar tape, we are proud to see our teammates movin’ and a groovin’ both out on the course and at the various “venues” throughout the Race Village. Keep up the good work!

We have only received a handful of entries in the Stage 1 and Stage 2 competitions. Remember, you don’t need to go over the top to enter, just add to the fun.

To make things simpler moving ahead, I’ll tag the contest posts #altstage1, #altstage2, etc. so you can search for them in the mess of posts hitting your feeds.

With that said, let’s get to the Stage 3 Downward Spiral Contest. Well, we can’t be having any of that downward stuff here at Team Alt Tour, so let’s lift our eyes a bit, and see what we can see above us. Yup, just point your phones up, and let us see what you look up to these days. Or, perhaps just point out the tiny next step you need to take to move closer to the foothills of Mount Sufferlandria. It’s up to you.

The prize for Stage 3 will help you get there! We’ve got a copy of The Brave Athlete: Calm the F ck Down and Rise to the Occasion on offer. So, step up your game, and get your entry in!

Remember, Everybody Hurts, but Team Alt Tour has fun doing it!

As much as I support everything you do, Sir, for this community, the dreadful pedant in me cannot help but to point out that “Lazer” is not the correct spelling.

Laser is an acronym for “light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation”.

I’d hope we’d all agree that ztimulation isn’t really a word, even in Sufferlandria.

Your humble servant.

I have just joined team alt tour. Need to figure out these daily contests! My reason for being in team alt tour is a long story, but basically after a lot of physical problems last year I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. I am going to try to do at least some of each stage.

Since then I’ve been playing a long game of snakes & ladders. Continually feeling like I was making great progress, only to go sliding back down again. But each time I was progressing that little bit further & sliding back that little bit less, so I moved on. Plenty of times I felt like throwing in the towel, but a Sufferlandrian doesn’t quit, no matter how long it takes.

However, Lazer is a commune in the Hautes-Alpes department in southeastern France. Perhaps Sir Michael will take us there one day.

So Lazer laser goats, then? :scream:

Having a goal helps me wonders. Having a plan how to reach that goal is even better.
To learn a few things you don’t have to look very far the Mental Toughness Program has a lot of helpful tools.

After I’m getting derailed I may be frustrated and demotivated initially. But once I have a goal I can pick myself up and motivate me again. I know what I have achieved in the past and how to do things. I have been down before, but I got up in the past and I got stronger in the long run. I can do it again. Once I’m doing something I can draw power from that and progress.
You can do it too and once you start you know you can do it!

Stage 4 :white_check_mark:

Definitely feeling the fatigue rolling up to today’s start line & had to dial down the MAP (100% on GMTI option, seriously GvA? Just cruel!) but made it through once the legs got going.

Determined to get to stage 5 & then take a rest day if needed

@anon93050083 catching up now!

Hey Team #alttour ! Sorry I’ve been missing but I’ll catch up now. I’m not sure if this fits in with #altstage2 or #altstage3, or may be a bit of both, but here goes.

Some of you know, but many don’t, that my little boy was diagnosed with leukaemia in November. He’s 3 years old. It was an absolute hammer blow. He’s had an awful time with complications from the treatment, and just going through it all. But he’s here, he’s doing well and he’s smiling and happy. So who do I look up to? Absolutely it’s him. How do I dig myself out of feeling down? By thinking of him. I’m back training again, something I couldn’t have imagined a relatively short time ago, and I’m feeling stronger and fitter. For a long time I’ve always though of a saying by Connie Phinney, which was brought to my attention via an interview with Emma Pooley, which is along the lines of it’s a privilege to choose how we suffer as many don’t have that choice. So when those intervals get tough, when things seem bleak, it’s a reminder that there are always people worse off. Particularly at the moment with the terrible war in Ukraine. Last night the news’s showed the childrens hospital in Ukraine where they had to move the children to the basement, and some patient had to try to get their children, with cancer, through the country and out to Poland to try and continent their treatment. They’d give a right arm to be as fortunate as my little one is. So suffer on, enjoy your time on the bike, be grateful for the choice of how to suffer, and whatever it is that’s stopping your being able to do the full tour, be grateful that we can share the #alttour together.
