All the best to your son, family and alttour so all of you can emerge stronger from this dark episode!
I know I am privileged with our minor problems, doing yoga in the midday sun and am happy with my life. I hope some day we can find a way to live peacefully together and help one another. Life can be hard and unfair enough all on it’s own, without us making it harder for other people already.
My next step will be to finally hop back on my trusty trainer tomorrow for a 15 minute recovery ride so I can finally suffer safe & properly in a few days to come. #alttour#altstage3
There I was, #alttour#altstage3, completely gassed, I laid on the floor, LOOKING UP, praying, prostrate to the cycling gods, atoning for the sin of crossing the railroad barrier. Please just let me make it through this nuclear tour. I fear The Model and what it beholds
What a perfect timing and pose to be back on the trainer for a 15 Minute “Recovery Spin” and the perfectly fitting Stage 4 of the Alt Tour. 22 days after my last real ride and 16 days after the last ride Cadence builds instead of a week with P Gaimon 2: Openers where I already knew COVID probably will visit us on the next days. Which it did on the very next day…
(Should have opened my Hands, I hope it counts nonetheless)
It didn’t take long and after a checkup at the doctor next week I can hopefully begin a new normal training plan in probably 6 days!
Before that I did “Mobilize and Activate II” Yoga which had the pose which will forever be known as the @anon93050083 pose! #alttour#altstage4
Awesome! You should be aware, however, that if I ever actually take both hands off the bars, the impact will be registered on earthquake monitors across the planet. I’ll get it over to the contest page.
Some of those at the head of the field are working through Stage 4, and without spoiling the fun, I will say that the end of that ride shows a Model pointing to the sky, and striking a victory pose. So, with that in mind, I am reminding you all that the contests for Stage 3 (Looking Up) and Stage 4 (Strike a Pose) remain open. Get those entries in!
Which brings us to Stage 5 A VERY DARK PLACE. This is a Stage that a number of our Teamies may have experience with in their personal lives, and may have been dealing with for some time. So, we’re cutting everyone some slack. All Team Alt Tour Athletes that have not already won prizes will be entered in this drawing. Yup, a freebie! You all deserve it!
However, feel free to use this thread to post motivational comments, memes, sayings, posters etc. that you find inspiration from. Let’s turn some lights on for those still working through the dark.
Stage 4 will soon be behind us, and all that will linger will be the nightmares caused by Sir David McQuillen and Sir Dylan Robbins in their live streamed performance as Model riders. Do not miss the cutoff for entering that stage’s contest for the signed DPF jersey.
The contest for Stage 6 will open soon, and since THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD can only be your favorite bike(s), the entry “fee” will be sharing a picture of that bike. We also want to know what you’ve named your bike, and the story behind the name.
The prize for this raffle will be a set of decals for your bike from Velo Ink.
Legs pretty tired but still feeling ok, so decided to push on. This close to the finish line no way I’m not seeing this through to the end, onwards to Honor, Glory & Victory!
Best of luck with your race @anon93050083 and have fun suffering!
I like this one a lot:
von Roland Schär
Luckily it fits for biking too, as long as the road points up. But where I live it is impossible to go biking without at least some climbing.
Also it’s probably the one I’m failing the most at. Only getting absolutely crushed by me not getting enough sleep… But I don’t know of any motivational poster to sleep more
OK, google stands me corrected:
Work hard, sleep harder!
Sleep all your troubles away!
Eat, sleep, work, train, repeat!
Go to bed with a Dream; wake up with a Purpose!
Awesome @TTDragon! Have similar plans for my retirement next year, though considering sticking with my current road bike, but building up a beater to turn into my full time trainer bike. Might be cheaper that way.
Thanks @TrapMeSuf I think it may have been built up for pro team as a spare bike/demo but never used as the frame was mint when I got it, but had a few small marks from where the previous group set had been installed.
This is my road bike, patiently waiting for me. We’re always having a lot of fun together but I have never really named a bike of mine. It typically goes by the name Rennrad or Canyon.
Team Alt Tour will not be offering a contest for Stage 7. The Team has opted instead to send the Stage 7 Prize to the Family of Sir Dan Corrick. We ride this stage in his honour.
We suggest that each rider on Team Alt Tour take a few extra moments before riding this stage, to reflect on what the loss of Sir Dan from our group means to us. Perhaps share that moment with us on this thread.
Team Alt Tour is also working to have Sir Dan’s name added to the permanent Ride of Silence memorial. He will be missed
