The Knight Rides! 2026

Sadly, my user error dumped me from the group today, but I did get to the top of the Radio tower before I goofed. No bike changes for me after this mistake. Thanks for an organizing a great series of knight rides, Citizen Blackwater. Thanks to everyone else for good company. If the weather keeps me indoors this spring, I’ll look for the 10:05 EDT ride that was mentioned.

CoS Blackwater, thank you again for taking over organizing the 2025-2026 Knight Rides. Next time we’re at the Nine Hammer tavern, I’ll buy you a lactic acid shot or two.

To all the others (regulars and irregulars) who joined in over the seasons, it has been ‘fun’ to share part of my Saturday mornings with you. Just remember #IWBMATTKYT

See you next fall (hopefully)!

Another great ride today. It’s been a blast riding with you all. A big kudos to citizen @Blackwater for organizing these rides. You’ve done a fabulous job and our participation rate definitely reflects that. Thank you to all who have joined for making it a great time. Looking forward to hopefully riding with you all next season.

I’ll be joining in more rides the next couple weeks. After that I’ll be mostly on SYSTM and TPV until next season.

Happy and safe outdoor riding to you all!

Great credit to @Blackwater for the passion to grow the Knights Rides and the responsibility to organize our rides. Just as I have helped bring on board my Barrington Bicycle Club friends; think about who you could help bring on board this Fall when we start up again. As I submitted in Saturday’s ride chat… I value your friendship and want you to know that our rides help make the ugly winter months of Chicago go by more quickly. Stay safe on the roads and we’ll ride together again in the Fall. If anyone is in Chicagoland for any reason it would be great to meet in person, or who knows maybe we could even do a ride together!

Thanks for the kind words @Chris_Wright, @emacdoug and @Medina81! It was great fun to host the season. Thank you for helping to make our Saturdays such a great success. Even if I sadly lacked time and energy to do right by it in the last weeks.

I really want to do at least one write up as a send off for this awesome season, with great (hard!) rides and the privilege of all your company. I might or might not get to it. For now it is planned on “Monday”.

But wait. If you don’t want for your healthy dose of Knight Rides, we still have two aces up our sleeves.

Please let me invite you all to our much smaller and humble ride this Saturday.

Citizens Saturday! Afterparty (on Neon Shore Loop)

Please join us on our friendly banded adventure. The time will be fixed on this one, so a bit more than one lap it will be.

Check the time (yes, it’s 25 minutes earlier than the last rides, in case of an emergency, just do a late join!), as we need to do this Hammer-friendly and Sir Evan optimized. If you do as much Hammers as him, you can also vote for the time.
Let’s cheer Sir Evan onwards in his epic Suffering! The spring has to wait 2 more weeks.

Join us HERE for our excursion through the sufferlandrian spring!

CU on Saturday!

Wow! What a great Saturday ride! I really didn’t expect us to be such a big group on this “small” ride. We peaked at 8 and hammered for 20 - especially Sir Evan @emacdoug.

We hammered, we sprinted and we joked - all out. It was a blast, and my legs feel that way as well.

We’ll have next week a very last ride in then a really smaller group. So if it feels too long until it is autumn and the Knight Rides return, join us. Let’s help Sir Evan and make him suffer even more, not only from hammers but also from having to laugh heard while riding.

I’m looking forward to to next Saturday and all of you that can make it! My legs not so.

Today with 7 great fellow riders those hammers felt much easier at the same intensity than fewer hammers the day before.

Today’s ride was a blast! Lots of hammers = lots of fun!

Thank you for all who rode along. Looking forward to one more week of great unofficial knight ride fun next Saturday!

Citizen Saturday: Don’t Stop! Hammer Time! (on The Greenway)

Here it is. The final final (yes final!) ride before the autumn with new rides sets in.

With the Season of Hammers in full swing there is no better place to be than on this ride. We support Sir Evan and keep his (in)sanity(?) in check with jokes and joyful suffering.

Never it is as good being at the pointy end, when it’s about nails and Hammers. Check your gear, get your drinks, prepare for a pounding ride!

We’ll do not only ride Nine Hammers style, but we also go even for 90 minutes.

Let’s nail this one!

Hammer Fact:
:hammer: Did you know, you can do 30 Hammers of 3 minutes each on this ride? If the Minions clock the time - even 3 Bonus Hammers more? :hammer:

Great final final after party knight ride today!

It’s been a fantastic crew all season long. And it’s amazing how much easier the suffering feels when with a bunch of fellow riders suffering along side you.

We’ll see if we can get together for some unofficial rides until Knight Rides resume in the fall. And many weeks you can join me and some of us on the Team Lou rides on TPV.

Thank you to citizen @Blackwater for organizing all the rides. And thank you to everyone who came out and rode for making this such a blast all season long.

Next Saturday I will be riding Nine Hammers (and some bonus suffering) again. Citizen @Blackwater will be off, but I will set up another Zwift unofficial Knight Ride ride for anyone who is interested.

Just some advance notice. It’s going to start 30 minutes earlier. Today’s ride started at 14:05 UTC (2:05pm UTC / 10:05am EDT / 7:05am PDT). So next week we’ll begin at 13:35 UTC (1:35pm UTC / 9:35am EDT / 6:35am PDT). Ride info will be posted here and on FB as per usual.

Thank you all for supporting the rides (and the afterparties)! It was all who joined, that made them memorable. A special thanks to Sir Evan @emacdoug who patiently helped spreading the good word every week.

It would be great if you would stand in for me next week and keep Sir Evan company while writing Sufferlandrian history, etched in lactate acid, born out of glorious suffering.

It was really an honor to enjoy the season with all of you!
We will ride in the golden autumn anew.
Today’s ride was a blast.
I’m toast.

Sir Evan @emacdoug Good luck with your remaining hammers. If the weather keeps me inside (forecast is 20 mph wind and rain right now) I’ll see you next weekend.

This community has helped me push myself a bit harder this cold winter. Should be good summer! Thanks everyone.

Thanks again for making the long rides and on Saturdays so much better! There really is nothing like suffering with friends! I will keep an eye out for unofficial rides as the weather is still touch and go here for another month or so.

Always great to ride with you Sir (uphill and downhill :dashing_away:) ! Looking forward to autumn for this and hear all about the summer and how your cross season is coming along by then.

Until then I will be an “UNSUB”, at least on Z.

But it would be great if as many as possible support Sir Evan on his epic Quest for even more Suffering. :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

If anyone is planning to ride along this week, I am looking for a volunteer to assign as this week’s sweeper and co-leader.

Feeling those post-Knight Ride season blues? Is the weather outside still not quite what you consider rideable? Looking to suffer and continue (or kickstart) that IWBMATTKYT feeling? Or do you just want a nice long rubberbanded indoor ride with fellow Sufferlandrians to pass the time with great chatter and some type 2 fun?

Can we make it all the way around The Big Ring in 2hr 15? Who will sprint for every KOM and sprint point?

Join us for this week’s ride!

All are welcome to ride along to support Sir Evan’s continued shenanigans as he attempts nine more hammers and The Shovel while you make your trainer beg for mercy and GvA proud.

This ride is rubberbanded, Wahoominati supervised, laser goat approved, and Sufferlandrian friendly.

Note that due to the extended length this ride begins 30 minutes early! Check the event link for your local event time!

Great long ride. Sprints and a decent climb, and Sir Andrew forced me to set a pr for 30 second power. Thanks @emacdoug and @aksibe

And we nearly made it 64km in our allotted 2h15min! 63.6km officially not including the cool down where we pushed past 65.9km total.

Was great watching you two battle it out for the sprints. Thanks to both of you for the great ride!

Knight Riders’ Choice

The Knight Rides may be over, but that doesn’t mean we have to be done riding. Unlike Santa Claus, GvA gifts Sufferlandrians unlimited suffering all year round.

Saturday morning (April 25) - that’s currently tomorrow in the Pacific time zone - will be the final weekend of my 279 Hammers journey. I will be dutifully dual-recording in SYSTM and Zwift again, but will not be creating an event. That means you can join or leave me during my ride at any time. But that also means there will not be any rubberbanding. That will give you a chance to drop me during each one of my recovery intervals. And also just as possibly during each hammer and pain shake as well. Your choice.

Ride Time: Sat Apr 25: 6am - 9am Pacific Daylight Time
Route: Scotland - The Muckle Yin

In any case… this is my last planned Saturday Zwift ride for the season, that is until I fulfill my final shenanigan with my 9 Nine Hammers & A Revolver unofficial KOS (date TBD).

Watching for this date, as the prior shenanigan approaches completion!

At least take a few rest days off first :joy:
