Not sure if anyone’s interested in reviving these, but we had some fun in the spring, so thought I’d give it a shot.
The Knight Rides are returning on Zwift!
We’ll kick off this coming Saturday. Tentatively I’m going with 10am eastern (US) time (GMT -5). That should give us a decent window from the US west coast through eastern Europe - I know, sorry Asia/Oceania…maybe next time if we have enough interest!
FAQ - you absolutely don’t need to be a Knight or Dame to ride, just a true Sufferlandrian at heart. The event will be banded, so we’ll all stick together as a group no matter what your effort level…so long as you keep pedaling. If you get dropped or have technical issues, you can drop and rejoin the event and be right back in the mix for the first 30 minutes.
To sign up, click on the link (below), or go to the Knights of Sufferlandria group in the Zwift companion app.
No worries, @rrutis, we’ll try to keep them going for you!
Yeah, I’m in wicked bad withdrawals from CX season. Took me six weeks to get back on the bike this summer after my run-in w a truck, I had to bail on the season this year - at least the first half. We’ll see if I’m up for the November schedule.
Sorry to bail on the ride, my “honey do” list needed attention and wife is sick. I’m taking a break, then back outside to finish hanging rabbit fencing to keep our newest monster in our yard.
(@Blackwater and @CPT_A going straight up THE GRADE, on our (eventual) way to the summit. Sorry Sir @jmckenzieKOS, forgot to get a group photo earlier!)
As for the Peak Performance route…1/5 shields. Much pain. Do not recommend.
Hopping on a group ride on Zwift is always gonna be a big challenge for me, personally. With soooooo many options already existing on Zwift for group rides, robopacer rides, races, challenges etc, it really is a TALL order I think to get a bunch of Sufferlandrians together. That and whether folks even have an active subscription means the numbers will likely always be pretty low.
As long as someone (like you, Cap’n Sir Ian) keeps coordinating them, I’ll be a perpetual “maybe” if I can fit it in in terms of time and whatever else may already be on my calendar.
Sorry, but I have no useful ideas on how to increase the ridership other than if The Company themselves was to coordinate something all official like AND offer real prizes (beyond virtual kit and such).
I got my 3 months free and rode on the Z thru May. Then I let my Zwift sub lapse. So I’m now on the 25km plan.
But I also came down with Covid the beginning of Sept and have only ridden 1 meaningful ride above Zone 1 since then.
Two weeks ago I tried to get back on the bike and ended up with a low grade fever for 10 days. So now two more weeks later and I’m about to try again. Hoping all goes well this week.
Maybe more will jump in on the rides as winter weather settles in to more of the northern hemisphere?
No problem about the photo. I had a serious health scare. Good news is that something that has been bothering me isn’t anymore. Hope to be able to jump onto a ride in the future.
