The Model

Apologies for the dumb question but has The Model been remastered? The prompts, storyline SUF ads, etc were absolutely brilliant for the first 3 sets and got me through a really tough workout with encouragement at just the right time.

The 4th set was a complete dogs dinner and like a completely different workout with no encouragement, story, ads or anything of any note. I’m assuming this was remastered.

I hope this is revisited and tidied up as the cut over to the remastered bit (if it was) is terrible. The re-re-re-remaster of Power STation shows a decent job can be done - but this is not one of them

Yes, that is exactly what happened. The 4th set was remastered. It evidentally needs to be revisited. I haven’t ridden it to check, yet. The Model was one of my favorites, so based on previous comments I haven’t been rushing to ride it to see. Sounds like it needs work.

Yeh, the 4th set totally needs the AVDP style re-remaster™ treatment. Hopefully it’s on @Rupert’s must do list :folded_hands: :folded_hands: :folded_hands:

That and turning Clobber back into some style of Cobbler again. But The Model would definitely be a much smaller job.

We will make sure to revisit these :+1:

When Phil Wins the Tour gets old I hope Defender can return to being… well… Defender.

I rode The Model today, and here’s another plea to re-remaster the fourth set. It looks and feels like it has a case of Time Trialitis (the condition where time trial footage is used with no regard to the work being performed).

In this case, we are supposed to do 10 20/20 over-under intervals, starting near threshold and then ending at 60% of FTP and 122% of MAP. Yet the footage:

  • does not show the riders working harder on the over parts of the set; and
  • unlike the other three sets, is 100% from the men’s race and not split 50%/50% between the men and women.

Even if we assume that the time trial footage was (for some reason) the only footage available from the Tour de Suisse, we have nothing like the prompts we had before. Were there no mechanicals? And even if not, all of the riders shown at the end have switched to road bikes for the final climb(s), so there could be scenes that match the final under intervals.

On the plus side, the winner’s dog greeting him was cute. I wish my dog was that happy when I finish a ride.

One thing that is pleasing about the early, non-remastered, intervals, is that there is at least one scene with Alaphilippe and Fuglsang, the two who battled up the hill at the end of the original Attacker (and in the 2019 Flèche Wallonne).

Life is just better with more Alaphilippe in it.
