Yes, it may have been the easiest stage in Tour history. But adding 5% was a minimum if not a must to suffer little more. But I took it a couple of steps beyond that and raised everything 105%.
(That what it said on the screen anyway)
So I did some math and did 215rpm cadence, took my HR through the roof and the heart jump some beats and than jumped on to the pedals to help me push the last interval. Now nearly 12h later the body feel drianed of energy. But that will change soon, carb loading 105% for the rest of the day and then do stage 5.
Maybe 105% increase was a step to far or perhaps it is just the lack of energy speaking aka brain not function, down by 105%.
(Disclaimer, I am totaly aware of my sense of a joke can prowoke some and make others smile. This is not for the light hearted, it is as brutal as the training we do here on X)
How did that stage get approved by Grunter? Very beautiful location! Looking forward to the Pro Ride and getting back to some suffering especially with that UCI Road coming up. We’re on the back half of this tour now! Hammer Time!!
Well, to be fair, @DameLisa may well be quite a bit over $1500 if Gertrude is sharing . That said, I don’t really care to make someone suffer through Carolina Reaper shots (or drops).
Well, that was easy! managed the high cadence stuff ok but it is not natural for me and racks my HR up a lot for the power. Didn’t even mess my hair up!! I am deffo a low cadence rider and those efforts at 60 and less rpm were my cup of tea, I can go on like that all day. I even managed to keep in Zone 2 (just about) at 3 watts per kg which I could never do at a high cadence. Roll on tomorrow + not looking forward to day 6. I did that a little while ago and still have the memory of it (low cadence here we come!!)
Kind of a welcome respite. I very much like the lower cadence sessions. So much so that when I consider whether to attempt knighthood I think I’ll put as many of those kinds of efforts as I possibly can in my plan.
Didn’t even sweat enough to get rid of my bed head!
I was happy to have a bit of an easier session for today’s stage. I think those high-cadence recoveries were exactly what my legs needed after yesterday’s tough session with Sir Neal.
@jesawdy and @TimWatson75 sadly despite some generous donating, I didn’t get to the $1,500 mark. Perhaps I should have lowered the target. However, I did ride the whole thing in the suit. 100+ rpm got interesting. There was much Royale Paigne shed.
The suit is now in the wash
