The Wahooligan Tour STAGE 4: On Location Portugal - Nazaré to Foz do Arelho

Whoa… 24 minutes in a Sufferlandrian speed demon must have passed sir Mike…

It was “almost comfortable”…until it wasn’t. Thankfully it wasn’t comfortable enough for laser goats.

Almost the worst suffering done today was the fact that I wasn’t outside, in Portugal, on my bike. Almost. The low-cadence climbs are kind of my jam but the long-block of high cadence is definitely not. Laughed when @michael.cotty was talking himself out of being wounded by the biker who blew past… no photo today but be assured my face is still red.

I am now very afraid but for the good cause I will suffer!!!

I actually bonked on this ride! I also think I am the opposite of many of the commenters here in that I actually relax a bit during the higher cadence and suffer like a couchlandrian who’s run out of donuts during the low cadence stuff.

Well done for sweating that one @DameLisa

My work kicked off before the scheduled ride, so I ended up scrambling to get ready & having a lot of tech issues. At least I work in tech so did solve them finally!

Couldn’t see anyone else in your RGT event, perhaps cos I joined a few mins late? Also RGT hogged all the CPU/GPU on the Mac and made it almost impossible to drive SYSTM at the same time, so i ended up quitting RGT. I later found it was because it was struggling to render RGT in full native 5K res, switching down to 2K/FHD is fine.

In the end I got on with the ProRide and tuned into your Twitch, so did witness the full glory of a (laser) goat on a bike. Bravo! It wouldn’t let me chat without signing in, and by that point I was trying to keep up with the many, many power changes in the video anyway. But I was there in spirit, slogging away a few minutes back down the “road”.

It wasn’t too tough imo, not sure how it felt in a woolly suit though?!

Just finished this ride. I wanted to do it yesterday but thanks to a 10+ hour power outage, no ride last night. I finished this about 2 minutes before yet another power outage. Hopefully I will be able to get all the rides in, but lost my buffer yesterday. :worried:

How come you’re getting power outages? We had several persistent power outages a month back related to a cyclone, so that’s my immediate association with power outages at the moment!

Hope you are all good.

I live in California. We have had a rough winter with storms. The past few days has been a wind storm. Over 200,000 households went dark over the past few days in Northern California alone.

If you downloaded your videos onto a phone or laptop that had some power, and had a Tacx, you could have ridden without power.

I always download the rides to my laptop. But when the power went out, the laptop ‘glitched’. Now the ride was over but I don’t know what it might have done had I still been riding…in the dark.

Hey @TimWatson75 I got i to RGT and nobody else had jumped it so I jumped back out, apologies. Will stay in the ride next time.

So stoked you jumped onto the Twitch. It was rather warm. Hahaha

That has never happened to me with a plugged in laptop.

It has never happened to me until today when the power failed.

@Heretic one question on this that I had not thought of. What happens when the ride is running on a battery powered device but there is no power to the bike? Nothing to pick up from my Kickr bike since it has no power. Does the video just run but record nothing?

Man, be safe out there, California! Some crazy footage coming for the left coast!

“If you had a monkey and a bunch of bananas, and trained it to ride a TacX, and then patched the leads from your service panel to the dynamo in the flywheel, the monkey could’ve ridden the stage for you AND powered your house…”

Yes. You’re BT would be calling into the void, and you’d get a “looking for devices” warning on screen - I’d imagine.

We’re just killing it with the helpful advice today, aren’t we?

You probably need to work a bit more on your core to help with that :grinning:
