Stage 1 complete! Donned the rampant lion jersey today and now recovering with a suitably Belgian beer
Just finished stage 1 and that was the most beautiful and awful combo Iāve ridden. I love it!
Done.
Bence! Youāre an animal!!!
Loved it! So pleased with my decision to do the TOS. Glorious suffering. Definitely went out too hard for Joyride. Serious mental toughness required for the last effort of Cobbler. Now quivering at the thought of 9 hammers followed by āthat one which we donāt talk about!ā
Totally agree about the mental toughness required for Cobbler⦠But, hey, Stage 1 is in the books. Iām sure that Iāll like 9H more than Cobbler. But ask me tomorrowā¦
First time doing 9 hammers for you?.. āshuddersā¦ā
Oh, no - Iāve done 9H many times. Iām not as horrified as some, but who knows after Stage 1 is in the legsā¦
Very true. Iām not trying to go nuclear this year. Too close to recent shoulder surgery to try that madness!!
My face when I just finished Joyride, after finishing Virtual TransCape in 1:19 and I realize Cobbler is not 33 minutes long, but triple that.
Good to see my normally passive aggressive Garmin likes my conditioning on the first Stage of the Tour!
Riding nuclear on the rollers. The third lap of honour really hurt.
Best of luck to everyone.
Blimey, Stage 1 was as tough as one of Grunterās chamois. Nailed Joyride, blew on Cobbler.
Justā¦seemed appropriate.
My first ToS this week. Still not the 14th in the UK yet, so Iām starting tomorrow. Not sure if Iām prepared or not, but will give it my best shot!!
!!Beast Mode engaged!!
Got stage 1 done early this morning. Started when the day was less than 3 hours old. 2 of my favorite workouts!
Stage One is in the books! I canāt wait for the thrills of tomorrowā¦and one of my favorite all time songs: Coke Machineā¦just one question: if your Skratch recovery drink is 6 months past its sell by date it should be just fine right?
None of us are fully prepared. This is my 7th or 8th tour and I still feel nervous on day one and wonder how will I do thisā¦but day after day I get on my bike and ride. You can do this!!!
