(un)Official Adult Recovery Beverages of the Tour of Sufferlandria

Stage 5 - AVDP

My god, is it possible that AVDP will actually be the (how do I phrase this) LEAST suffering day of the ToS for me so far??? Can that TSS be right? I’m not buying it, but after the way The Model took me to the woodshed, I’ll take it.

Regardless, A Very Dark Place deserves A Very Dark Beer, so I’ll be recovering with an old friend, Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel.

AVDP also applies to my support for (and dealing with) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, like many combat veterans. So in addition to Team DPF, I will be (again) making a donation for every mile I cover on Stage 5 to TextVet, and their Pedal Against PTSD program, to help ensure there’s always someone to talk to on a dark day.

See you at the Nine Hammers Tavern. Onward and upward!

…and that’s $20 to veterans. Not today AVDP.

Love the helmet!

I’m just going to roll with it tomorrow. One more glorious day to go.

So NE of Manchester? Is this an IPA? Or a real Pale Ale? Would imagine Vocation knows a thing or two about Pale Ales!

In honor of today’s stage, I went with the absolutely delicious Porter from Port City Brewery in nearby Alexandria, VA. They have a number of fantastic offerings, to be honest. Cheers!!

I had to double up Model and AVDP. After that, there was only one possible beer in my collection to pick. The Sun Doesn’t Rise At All from Kettlehead Brewing. Delicious, very highly recommended.

Ouch!

If anybody deserves to revive with an imperial stout, sounds like you earned it!

Be chewing on that all night.

Tonight. Friday before the Big Blend and the Sir Dan Corrick stage. A Tasmanian Pinot. Blood, Sweat and Tears. Seems appropriate.

Yep, they’re inbetween Leeds and Manchester and make some great beers. The one I had was a pale ale but they do some good IPAs and porters :beers: :beers:

Stage 6 - TBTITW

Nothing fancy for my TBTITW survival prize, but with St. Patrick’s Day coming up in a couple weeks, I couldn’t close out ToS 2022 without an Irish Red Ale. This year’s entry is Ireland Forever Irish Red Ale, from the Berkshire Brewing Company, with proceeds to the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade and charitable foundation.

Sláinte! And see you at the 9 :hammer_and_pick:.
