I find any Sir Standsalot rides to be perfectly adequate Suf. There was nothing non-Suf about that set of sprints (for me).

Yeh, so my take on that is if they really wanted to honour Sufferlandria by having 2 distinct routes, then that would have been a PERFECT opportunity for The Company to show us, and the world, the best of SUF. It’s not that the non-SUF stuff wasnt hard. It’s that they weren’t SUF. I swapped Sir Standsalot’s 12 sprint session for Half is Easy’s 40*. I swapped Sir Ian’s Creemee ride for 14 VG + Joyride. Similar length of time but WAAAAAAAY more engaging, at least to me. I did the Creemee ride once before when I did the AWW series and these things just are not repeatable for me without creating a bad case of TTBS.

True that prior SUF tours had non-Suf stuff but that was primarily before The Acquisition.

It was my take from the outset that “they” didn’t, which renders much of what you wrote moot (not that I disagree with you).

I did the Tour. I suffered. That made it the “Sufferfest”.

I am, despite my chronic grumpiness and regular whining, an eternal optimist and can be (admittedly) pathologically naive in my hopefulness at times. When I first heard there’d be 2 routes, I got my hopes up (only to be dashed on the shores of the GLAS). More fool me :man_shrugging:t3:

That said, your points are well taken and I did something similar. I did a modified version of the Tour, I suffered and hence I made it a Tour of Sufferlandria

You also raised money for the DPF.

Fully 100% agree with that statement.

And Sir Standsalot rides have been in the Tour for as long as I can remember: 2016 To get to the other side, 2017 The way out, 2018 Getting away with it. They weren’t called On location rides then, but they were the blue-prints for OL.

Funnily enough I’ve been thinking that the more recent On Location rides have had more of a training session style, with overs and unders or high cadence/low cadence work than the old Col-collective rides that made up the early Mike Cotty Sufferefest rides that were simple recovery rides. The newest OL rides definitely have FTP training stress stimulation.

Thank you all of you wonderful people who rode the Tour and who donated (to whatever group and in whatever form you choose) to DPF. We raised a lot of money for a great cause. And the Citizens of Suf came within 5K of the Wahoo group. We raised more money then I ever imagined so thank you for your generousity

@Glen.Coutts If Ian Boswell isn’t a Sufferlandrian I don’t know who is. Raced “with” him at Vermont Overland. He finished about 1 1/2 hours in front of me and came in 2nd on a course that was the toughest I have ever done and I have done a lot of Vermont races.

The Cape Epic article about the power numbers that he and Mitch Docker put out was mind blowing to me:

I followed Ian on Strava for a while. He does a lot of NoVids and repeats many of them. I think Big Gear Tempo was one of his frequent go to workouts. That Creemee ride is actually open to anyone during the summer and is on my bucket list.

Sir @JSampson, I am well aware he is a Sufferlandrian, he’s a KoS, hence my calling him Sir Ian. But I still don’t wanna do non-SUF rides in a Tour where they specifically had 2 separate routes. I just fail to see how that was honouring the Sufferlandrian legacy.

Honestly, at this point it doesn’t even matter. I’m happy with the decision I made to swap stuff out and add an Alpe du Zwift epilogue. I’m happy for the SUF folks who made a 9 day OG style tour, I’m happy with the folks who did the route as is, or both or even just the other route. I’m glad we were once again able to raise a SUF ton of money for DPF.

Been away laying on a couchlandian beach unplugged for the past couple of weeks but I’ve loved getting caught up on all things Sufferlandrian and the peleton’s glorious suffering during the tour! Is your flag still for sale?

No, but sir G is selling his. Not sure when fubdraising ends tho, probably today so youd need to be quick.
