Thank you Sir Paul @pkdaylu
ToS #9 is in the books!!
Absolute carnage by the end of HT… just how we like it.
Still cheering on those still out on the course though!! Nearly there.
I’ll just leave my final word to Fluffy…
but but but The Epilogue
Too late. Feet are up and me and the cat are watching Strade Bianche.

Cute. I wonder how many now-fired Minions’ could still be employed, working to improve Wahoo’s products and services, with a $10k cash infusion from Mr. Chip Hawkins? What did he have to sell a watch or something?
Honestly, Cap’n Sir Ian, initially I was a bit taken aback by Chip’s contribution myself. It actually stung a bit considering everything we’ve been talking about for the last couple years and about THAT name.
But then, like a surge and settle interval, I just settled in to the effort. For me, at least until the end of The Tour Whose Name Shall Not Be Uttered
I’m gonna continue to focus on DPF and the ONLY reason I’m even doing the tour this year, besides the welcome fitness bump, which I could have gotten anyway.
That’s not to say I won’t continue to rag on The Company after The Tour or that I don’t agree with you cuz I do. But…Dame @Dame.Ellisa.Podemski has been an absolute gem as a Sufferlandrian support minion and frankly, if we ever lost her, I think Mt.Sufferlandria would implode.
I’ve gained access to the Company outpost in order to finish both videos of Stage 6, and High Time of Stage 7. In the wake, I’ve left them with some Sufferlandrian propaganda in the form of a pool of Holy Water and a pamflet that says MORE THAN YOU.
Let’s donate more and show those corporate bibs who pays the bills.
I hope you made certain NOT to wipe down the seat and handlebars. By providing Sufferlandrian perspiration, you are providing inspiration to the next person who is looking to better themself.
Well, made it… Only the last five minutes was I able to try anything at 100% intensity. Chapeau to all of you for your extraordinary efforts fundraising and encouraging/flogging others on to do more. I hope it’s another great year for the Davis Phinney Foundation.
Scary finishing photo follows.
Scary equals beauty in Sufferlandria
And I’m done
Nothing else to say
It is done. I’m shattered
The creamee ride broke me…I started at 100%, had to knock it down to 90% at the 25 minute mark, and had to go down to 80% for the last 25 minutes and could barely turn the pedals during the last hill/surge. Still have to do the creamee ride again to finish the wahoomalabob tour too…
an honour and privelege to ride and suffer with all y’all. Thanks again to Dame Jill and Sir Stephen for joining forces and showing that Sufferlandrians are The.Best.
Thank you Sir Glen and Sir Evan for your most kind words.
Chapeau to all riders, whether you finished or not, Wahoo route or Sufferlandrian route.
Thank you to all the wonderful teammates who have pushed each other along through this epic week.
Thank you to all the generous supporters who have helped raise so much for the DPF
I’m not riding today, I have a rather sore saddle sore! But I will see you all soon on the lava fields of Mount Sufferlandria in the perpetual headwinds of Agonia.
There is also this…
if we combine the fundraising efforts of:
- Citizens of Sufferlandria at $26,912
- TEAM Tenth Hammer (all Sufferlandrians) at $5,259
- Team Davis Phinney Foundation with team captain @Lauren_TeamDPF, GvA’s fundraising soigneur at $2,074
The final tally then is:
Sufferlandria $34,245 to Wahoo $32,855
and that doesn’t even include all the Sufferlandrians that suffered alone (as Sufferlandrians usually do)!
I’ve had time to reflect on a few things with a day away from the Tours, and the Company dropping big last minute donations to put the friendly contest out of reach, doesn’t sit well with me I’m afraid. Feels a bit like dropping a hand grenade into a fishing lake. It is of course fabulous for the cause, as Sir Rupert was keen to point out, just ruined some of the friendly competitiveness & banter, which is a key part of all this. Perhaps the large donations could have been made personally rather than into a team pot?
I do still enjoy the Sufferfest videos a lot, I actually started enjoying RGT before it suddenly disappeared, I really miss Sir Dave, Sir Dylan, Sir Cody, and many of the old guard particularly at Tour time. I expect I’ll maintain a Wahoo subscription, as I find it a really fun & valuable training tool, whether or not I do The (whatever it will be called) Tour 2025 I’m less sure about. It’s great to fundraise for a worthy cause, great training, and great community spirit on the whole, but it feels like it’s lost a lot of the old magic which helped drive on a tired body, and made it worth making sacrifices for. I’d support the DPF regardless.
If there are to be two routes again next year, I’d suggest making the Suf one all Suf. Many rode both anyway, so there’s no point in forcing non Suf OL rides on those who just want to Suf. It just feels like a deliberate attempt to force the Wahoo brand in. And conversely the non Suf route had several Suf videos in, just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me considering the size of the Suf library. I suspect it’s driven by marketing - to cross promote each thread to those taking a trial of one or the other. Makes more sense to me to keep them distinct, and allow customers to choose.
Those are my feelings right now, a year is a long time, so looking forward to seeing what happens. Thanks to everyone who contributed to making this a tough but enjoyable Tour.
Nice note and I share a lot of the same thoughts. Where I diverge is that I don’t mind having a little bit of non-Suf bleeding onto the Suf route so long as the main ordeal of the day is Suf.
By the same token, including some Suf in the other route might enlighten folks who have been surviving in ignorance and lead them to immigrate to Sufflandria and help it grow.
Like you said, the next Tour is a long way off and I don’t know how I’ll feel then. One thing I do know for sure is that I can never leave.
If we also add in Paul Hurley we crushed them
