Having the exact same issue with my ROAMv1. Date set to Jan 2006, GPS unusable, no speed or tracking.
Reported to customer support but no reply yet.
I can only imagine the stress and horror if that would have happened on a bikepacking trip in the middle of nowhere 
Let‘s hope they can do a firmware hotfix soon, as there seem to be loads of users with their units not working.
