Same here yesterday and today with Roam v1. Although dates are correct, GPS is glitching on the ride. Very annoying redirection beeps on my planned route yesterday. No speed when GPS is off even while I have the speed sensor paired.
Yesterday, 3 of us using 3 different models were doing the Tour De Mon on Anglesey and suffered the same issues. Really frustrating as we all lost the logs for the event.
When we spotted the issue I managed to get 75% of the ride on my Garmin watch.
The same thing happened to me this morning. At first, the indoor/outdoor button appeared in a different section, so I thought maybe it had updated itself to a new version. All the custom pages I had set up were gone, and only the default Wahoo pages were there — which I couldn’t modify to add power data, etc. After restarting the device, my pages came back, but I noticed that GPS during the ride wasn’t working properly; the data was coming in too late. I restarted it again, but nothing changed. Both Strava and Wahoo Fitness show my ride with completely wrong data — way too much elevation, an unrealistically high max speed, and a totally messed up map.
It makes sense that others are experiencing the same issue; I really hope they fix it. My device has been working fine since 2018, and I hope this isn’t just planned obsolescence.
Same thing happened to me yesterday on Element Bolt. Out on a 4 hour ride and GPS wouldn’t connect. i kept pausing and resuming, which would pick up speed and distance for maybe a minute, but would then drop out again. Very frustrating. Only about half of my ride was recorded and listed as happening on 1st January 2006. I hope they issue a software update soon…
Had the same problem today Wahoo/Strava in Ireland all working fine this week until today. I see a big update due but have to wait until back in wi-fi range. Wahoo has more updates than Sonos!!!
If this is confirmed as the bug I suspect it is then it’s one that’s been known about for 19.7 years (a GPS equivalent to Y2K) - and I hope they issue a firmware update to correct it and don’t just go do the “you’re using V1 which is no longer supported” … I’m sure GPlama and DCRainmaker on youtube would have something to say about that
Still no official news about this from Wahoo. I’m on bike trip for several days and this is a very annoying problem. I’m using a Bolt V1 and someone I know has the same problem with a Roam V1. I hope they will release a FW fix today for this!
I’ve just tagged in guys DCRainmaker and GPLama from youtube into my Twitter post, wondering if they’ve encountered it as well (given the number of devices they have at their disposal for testing).
I’m on Roam v2 and can confirm have to same problem. I’m going for a quick ride later to see if it still persists. I’m on the latest (as of yesterday) firmware.
Wahoo Element Bolt V1 here. GPS was in and out this morning, mainly created a bunch of hypotenuses through the corners. MPH display would show - - then a speed, seemingly no pattern just every now and then. Ride shows as correct date in Element App “History”
I did a 50 mile TT yesterday (17/08) with my Bolt v1, a separate warm up, stopped the warm up then started 5 seconds before the off. All data showing on both rides, also pressing lap multiple times for splits. After finishing, was close enough to my phone for syncing. A little later, trying to find the data on my phone, nowhere to be seen. Tried to sync again but nothing!
I had pretty much the same thing happen to me yesterday on my Elemnt Bolt - same date 01/01/2006, which is how it’s been saved on the Bolt. It didn’t record to my Strava a/c either, some of the readings were a bit odd while I was out on the bike, and the ride is there in the Bolt’s history but with the above date on it. (I live in France, but grew up in Dunfermline, as it happens!) Haven’t been out on the bike again, but it does look like it may have adjusted itself back to normal.
