It is not, unfortunately. My v1 Bolt is suffering of the same. Connected it to the app Sunday after a ride (recorded without GPS data), which apparently adjust date (and time, which was -1 h). But riding again yesterday showed that recorded workout presented date 05.01.2006, still no map (no GPS data) and the time again was -1 h.
For my device, adjusting the time (manually) is cosmetics, not fixing the root cause. To my 1st generation device, no update from Wahoo yet available yet per Thursday, August 21.
Same problem with my Bolt V1, of course. Since last Sunday, I’ve been getting very strange readings from my power meter and GPS issues on the route I’ve been riding.
On Strava, I got a very strange route and a red flag with the comment that part of the route was probably covered by a vehicle or that the GPS data was not accurate.
I thought my Bolt had had its day and was already thinking about replacing it. I’m glad I didn’t do that yet.
After 6 days it’s really not that constructive to post on this thread simply to be the hundred and fifth person to say they’re having the same problem as everyone else. We get it.
It means a great deal to me that my older device has not been turned into e-waste prematurely. The fact that Wahoo continues to support customers with older devices is an outstanding service.
I will no doubt be upgrading my device at some point in the foreseeable future, and this gives me confidence to remain a loyal Wahoo customer. I trust both the device and the service that Wahoo provides over time.
From their support page, it seems they are testing a firmware solution this weekend with a three day testing cycle before it is then considered ready to push for public release.
There was an update available just now. Strange thing is that the version is the same as was already on there (WB15-17055). Got a ride planned tomorrow so will see if anything has changed…
Yep installed, then said same version number and then “up to date”. Maybe the fix wasn’t a wahoo code upgrade per se, but was microcode / firmware update for the gps chipset the device has. Interesting to see if it fixes it in the morning - but maybe they’re just testing the release process since the devices are older models as no official release note on the support page yet.
Interesting enough is that not all of roam v1’s are affected. Friend of mine have roam v1 but everything works perfectly. Version on his roam is as on a picture
Downloaded the firmware update on my Element Bolt 1. Went around the block and seems to be working fine now. Need to do a longer ride to be sure. Thanks for sorting Wahoo.
Same issue here, I’m on bolt V2, so pb it’s not linked to GPS reset date. Last time on a +2300 gradient ride, only +700m were recorded… I hope wahoo will not become de new Gopro, there are more frequent issues on these devices..
I ride 21 of August and saw the speed doesnt register ok. Last Sunday 24 of August i did a ride with my daughter then i saw my Wahoo element doesnt register speed right and not the distance too. I thought it was something wrong with my device and the date when i finished ride i saw it was 6 or 8 of January 2006. And when i compare with my daughters Garmin device my distance was 9 km shorter than hers. I bought my device 2016 or 2017 so i thought it was about that . Normally it works very well. I was cycling in Sweden outside Stockholm. Maybe they fix a patch or update soon.
