Wahoo November Challenge: Groundwork

November challenge done. Finished off tonight with power station. First time I have done the re-remastered power station and really enjoyed. Good video. Really got me motivated and into the workout.

November Challenge complete. Finished it off with Power Station. I don’t know what it is about this new version but it’s absolutely wiping me out. I have always excelled at this workout, especially when the cadence targets were lowered a few years ago but my last few attempts with the new version are absolutely wiping me out by the last two “walls” and the 10th “wall” just does me in. Today I had to reduce the MAP 1/4 of the way through the last wall. HR was just way too high and the legs were having nothing of it but, it’s done. I’m a bit confused/concerned TBPH.

Well done sir Eric! I finished off with getting away with it this morning.

My knees are pretty tired after all the knight ride sprints yesterday so it was tougher than expected.

I’ve noticed Strava told me “best 10 minutes power” during Phil’s workout. So I wondered: is it really the most demanding one ( for 10 minutes)? I know it depends on your 4dp values, but what would be the hardest workout in the library for 20 min? 30? One hour?

High Time? The OL French Alps ones had me setting such records as well, iirc.

I remember doing the Giro D’Italia 1 a while ago, the first 10 mins is a bit of a WU but those next 20 mins are just chewing the stem and trying to get to the end, not very pleasant from what I remember.

I have wondered this same question

For me, the hardest Sufferfest in all timing categories, from 7 seconds to the overall hour is Full Frontal. And yet I keep doing it every for months or so! Go figure!

Managed Cookie-Phil’s Long KOM and OL Lugano yesterday, and intend to replace Costa Brava Coastline which is in my plan for Thursday with GAWI, and replace G.O.A.T in my plan for Sunday with Power Station.

Will be my first monthly challenge badge in a long time*. Looking forward to it!!

Like Eric.KoS, I suffered on the last Power Satan interval. The guy in the green suit with the crappy green aero helmet was welcome comic relief. Ticked off all four and feel good.

@sc235813 @Isa that last interval in the remastered Power Station is much more of a challenge to complete now than it was in the original….not that it was easy in the original. I’ve also noticed that there is quite a bit more standing in the remastered version. I used to excel at this workout but I’m actually struggling a bit with it now. I did, however, make it all the way through this morning workout having to reduce the last interval as I’ve had to the last couple of times that I’ve done it BUT I also didn’t do any of the standing in the last interval. I’m pretty much on my limit with this workout now.

Hmm. It’s terrible, I know, but my recollection of the original Power Station is basically blank at this point.

Did the original Power Station and other similar workouts hit a weakness of yours, or is it only this last interval in this session? Kudos to sticking through to the end of it!

I am suspecting for myself personally, that I might need to retest next month. Either my numbers are too low as targets or, I am somehow managing to do all the difficult workouts on my schedule when the stars align and I’m well rested and feeling amazing. That’s possible I guess…

Soooo… December? PS, also cracked during the last Power Station interval, purely the leg power wasn’t able to hit the number on the auto adjusting Kickr Shift, nowhere to hide.
