Wahoo X August Challenge - All Out August

Four rides. One mission: go all in.

This August, it’s time to go full throttle with All-Out August — a four-workout challenge designed to capture the intensity, variety, and thrill of race season. From lung-burning climbs to tactical surges and team efforts, each session pushes you to ride harder, smarter, and with purpose. It all wraps with a well-earned spin through Vermont with Ian Boswell.

The 4 Workouts: Each workout represents a different race scenario to test your fitness and mindset:

:volcano: 1: Big Mountain Test: Superflag

Start your challenge with a long, punishing climb up Colorado’s iconic Super Flagstaff. Coach Neal Henderson leads you through pacing, breathing, and holding threshold effort when it matters most.

:racing_car: 2: Rookie Debut Race

Feel the heat of your first pro race as you match the pace and strategy of real riders. With three punchy efforts and barely any rest, you’ll build tactical awareness and raw fitness.

:collision: 3: Team Tactics & Suffering: Hammer Chase
One of the most explosive sessions in SYSTM. Short intervals and minimal recovery simulate the all-out effort of a team chase — sharp, brutal, and highly effective.

:hot_beverage: 4: Social Rollout & Recovery: Creemee Ride
Every race block needs a warm-down. Join Ian for a social ride through Vermont as you reflect and wrap your challenge on a high note.

@Rupert….&Recovery? I’ve done this Creemee Ride a few times and I don’t remember it being all that relaxing and easy.

After watching the Ian Boswell video, I happened to be in that area of Vermont and I did the Creemee Ride for real on a Tuesday with the actual Vermont riders. It was no joke! My only regret is that I was too far behind the group and I didn’t have time to get the creemee. :frowning:

Good for you! That’s pretty special. I thought I would love to make it there one day too.

Was Ian Boswell on the ride as well?

That would have been dope but no. Of course they seemed to know him on a first name basis.

That area of Vermont is stunningly beautiful. Highly recommended in late July or August.

Thanks for the info! I’ll add that to make my bike trip dream list more specific.

Specific is essential for SMART goals😎

Agreed. Hardly a recovery ride.

Finally did the Creemee video for this month, first time since I was in Vermont. I can report back that the hill featured around 11:00 is completely insane in real life and the video does not do it justice. You might as well be biking up a vertical wall.

When you have wattage above your AC it’s not a recovery ride.

When our host mentions (18 minutes on) about planning one’s nutrition for the ride, it’s not a recovery ride.

When riders are being dropped more than once in the video, it’s not a recovery ride.
