Wahoo X July Challenge - Grand Tour Month

Power through four iconic stages. Your tour. Your rules.

This July, take on your own Grand Tour with four hand-picked Wahoo SYSTM workouts. Each stage mirrors a core element of real-world stage racing — from the solo pressure of time trials to mountain-top grind, tactical breakaways, and relentless transitional chaos. No teams, no transfers — just you, your bike, and the pain cave.

:chequered_flag: The 4 Stages

:stopwatch: Time Trial Stage - Joyride (Focus: MAP)
The Individual Time Trial - fast, focused, and fuelled by raw aerobic power. With descending MAP intervals and high cadence targets, this session mimics the intense solo effort of a race against the clock. As one of SYSTM’s best short-form VO₂ max workouts, it’s the perfect opener to shock the system into race mode.

:mountain: Climbing Stage - Nine Hammers (Focus: VO₂ Max, Threshold, Anaerobic Capacity)
Welcome to the high mountains. This Sufferfest classic mimics a brutal summit stage — nine back-to-back efforts, each a hammer blow to your threshold and beyond. With barely any recovery, it replicates the relentless nature of Alpine climbing and remains one of the most iconic and feared sessions in the SYSTM library.

:bullseye: Tactical Stage - The Bat (Focus: Threshold, MAP, Mental Focus)
This is your breakaway stage — unpredictable, strategic, and mentally demanding. Each interval begins and ends with MAP surges, sandwiching time just below FTP where your body stews in discomfort. Integrated mental training techniques make this more than just a physical test — it’s a masterclass in suffering with purpose.

:hammer: Suffer Stage - The Shovel (Focus: AC, MAP, NM, FTP)
Like a brutal transitional stage in a Grand Tour, this is chaos from start to finish — non-stop surges, minimal rest, and no clear rhythm. With sprint-level NM efforts and relentless anaerobic bursts, The Shovel is one of the most physiologically punishing workouts in the SYSTM library — and the perfect way to end your personal Tour.

Grunter’s revenge - they complained about not enough suffering - this will teach them.

This is great.

Grunter has also stop off for a quick motivational speech from the team car:

Absolutely brilliant - fine selection of bonkers workouts that I can rarely (never in one of them) complete … for me these definitely need a week between them this month

I’m surprised you didn’t use High Time for the ITT stage instead of Joyride. But nice to see a full SUF challenge. 9H and The Shovel!

Just doesn’t seem right, does it? Joyride for the TT Stage? If it hadn’t been recently remastered, I wonder if it would have been used?

Nice work @Eric it brings me joy you are doing the challenge!

High Time was also an option but we chose Joyride. We can make sure high Time features in a future challenge :+1:

Thank you @Rupert. Joyride was perfect for me for the TT Stage. Short, sweet, painful. Get in, workout, get out. It was perfect for me for the TT Stage, short, sweet, to the point.

High Time is such a phenomenal workout/video. Makes me wonder what else Francois could have produced.
