Wahoo X August Challenge - The Challenge of Champions

That means you’ve been doing it right! :+1: :muscle:

I think I remember seeing it one other time, but in the after-workout fog I had forgotten about it completely.

At least I now have it in my SUF screenshot album in perpetuity.

You must be right Sir!
I can vaguely remember only one part of the workout where there was a saying that “some easy feeling won’t even come back” or somewhere along that line.

I do occasionally save some of these screenshots too

I definitely don’t think it would work well for my KICKR Climb if the BMX ride were to include such quick gradient changes. Can’t imagine the Climb keeping up but I do recall riding the MTB one before when my Climb was new and loving it! Looking forward to riding that later this month. Just did Omnium today. Ugh! Just three weeks since I last rode Omnium in July, and it didn’t get easier!

I’m saving the Omnium for next Saturday when it’s ride #9/10. And I plan to do it in level mode. We’ll see how that turns out. :man_facepalming:

Just because the World Championships have finished, it doesn’t mean you have!

There is still plenty of time to complete the August Challenge to earn your Badge :cow2: :scotland:

3/4 done. UCI WCC MTB still to go - maybe today given it’s too smoky outside to ride on the real trails.

Well this is good timing. Hey, Friday, here I come!

Well on Sunday I did 14vice grips to complete the challenge , or so I thought. Somehow managed no to save it, and manually completing it doesn’t count. So here I am on Tuesday having done 14 vice grips for the second time in three days to complete the challenge

Hey @Stonechat, what’s better than 14 Vise Grips? Why, 28 Vice Grips of course.

Nice work!

Whoops.

Not sure I shouldn’t cross-post this to the Stupid thread as well.

So had Omnium today, and thought it would be fun to switch things up a little. We’ve talked about this before in the forum, but set the trainer to level mode 0 and the gears to 53x12…TRACK BIKE!

Turns out I churn about 300w @ 45ish rpm in that gearing. Toughest leg workout I’ve ever done in SYSTM…right up until I destroyed the cheap cog set that came on my KICKR about 20min in. And MAYBE stripped the internal threading in the hub?

Threw my old, Ti Dura Ace 10spd cogs on it and it seemed to be ok - finished the workout in ERG mode. Hopefully the little bits of shredded threads on my floor are from the lock ring, not the hub? I mean, I’m a LITTLE bit annoyed that the amount of torque I was putting into the hub at ± 300 - 500w could do that much damage. This trainer (my second) is only a year old, maybe? Feel like it should be spec’d for a lot more power and torque than I’m capable of putting into it.

:grimacing: :crossed_fingers:t3:

Anyone know if the KICKR hub is replaceable? Will be dropping a note to the Minions.

It’s def replaceable cuz you can take it off and grease it to make it a little quieter and can also swap it for a Campy if you’re that way inclined. I’m tempted to try the track bike sim but based on your experience maybe not

Good grief! Power Station to the max!

I believe the Kickr is supposed to be rated to around 2400w, so… You shouldn’t have been able to destroy it, unless it was the cheap cog that did the damage.

:scream: :grimacing:

But yes, it is replaceable. Hopefully the minions can get you back on track asap. They’re usually great about this. I had my Kickr Core swapped out twice with very little hassle.

Hopefully they’ll get you back to suffering real soon!

Yeah that’s my take as well - 2400w is WAY more than I’m ever doing. But wattage ≠ torque, so guessing I over-stressed the cog and lockring? Again, everything seemed to tighten down ok on the fly when i swapped out my DA 10 speed cassette, but I’m going to need to tear it down to get a better look at it.

Me too. It’s like being on a roller-coaster.

I think the riders on the track do that too. Have you seen their legs?

I rode it ‘fixed’ on about the middle cog to end up at 90 rpm or higher at the hard efforts.
