I’ve generally over the years used Sufferfest/SYSTM plans, most often an All-purpose plan, if I’m not preparing for anything specific. Right now, I’m using the Mountain Fondo plan for a ride I’m planning for late June. I do modify liberally if I wish to. For instance, next week the plan suggests an inspiration video I’ve done before, so I’ve replaced with one that’s new to me. If it suggests a long no vid ride, I’ll swap it to a day when I can ride outdoors. So, anyway, I don’t strictly follow the plans, but I find that setting up a plan provides me structure to figure out what I want to do. If I just tried to do what I feel like, I’d end up in couchlandria far too often!
I do exaclty the same as you, @pkdaylu.
Totally relatable!
For anyone looking for a new challenge in May:
LITERALLY could’ve released this two weeks ago. BAM. May Challenge.
No badge earned, but have set my May challenge to Zone 2 only and really pleased that half way through the month, I’ve stuck with it and so far really enjoying it.
If I pretend the new On Locations haven’t been launched yet, I might just make it.
Completed the new EF All Access stuff in between a house move.
All about the badges you know!
You could always whack your trainer in level mode and ride the On Locations at the appropriate effort for Zone 2?
I could but I know myself well enough to know that this will fail spectacularly.
I’m going to claim this as wisdom, but the reality is that I know I’m an idiot
Thank you for sharing, I was thinking along the same lines.
Of late I naturally gravitated to the following weekly sequence:
- Mondays: Recovery ride, which means anything but a Sufferfest video normally working towards ticking off another badge (including Monthly challenges).
- Tuesdays: Sufferfest.
- Wednesday: off.
- Thursday: Sufferfest.
- Friday: Recovery.
- Saturday: Sufferfest workout of at least 2 hours combined or single video.
- Sunday: Outside tempo ride.
