What will happen with SYSTM / SUF after the last round of layoffs?

Did you use the automatic triathlon transition stuff? I liked the idea, but I’ve done one event where I scraped a run PB by a few seconds and another where I was just under an hour boundary on the run because I sprinted for the line. Having the watch guess when the next sport starts would have stopped both of those as it would be unlikely to set the transition at the exact time.

I honestly use mine for everyday, plus non-cycling/running activities (rock climbing, etc.) Never even investigated the Tri functions - that sounds like a cool function, if it’d work. :grimacing:

I thought their main target audience for those watches was triathletes.

Yah maybe? I picked mine up when my beloved old Suunto crashed early last year and the Rivals were on sale. Can’t say I paid much attention to the pitches - just thought I’d get functionality with better connectivity to the Wahoo environment.

I pointed out that Wahoo are now sponsoring Ironman, I’ve also just spotted that they are “presenting” Challenge Almere in Amsterdam. Looks like they are going big on the triathlon market, it is probably cheaper than world class cycling and I reckon the number of viewers is growing.

Triathletes love indoor trainers as well…holding a certain wattage for as long as possible, trainers are great for that. Plus they are often short on time and indoor cycling is much more efficient use of time.

Not sure we really need more workouts that badly, there are so many that surely pretty much every base is covered. New content/sufferfest video to go over some no vids and maybe refresh some older ones would be good though.

New functionality should probably be on the cards but I’m not sure what. I already pay the pittance that intervals.icu costs for full functionality so that sort of thing isn’t any personal use to me in Wahoo, but i can see that being a big driver. The calendar thing on its own doesn’t achieve much other than an easy visual for selected plans right now and of course reflects nothing you do outside of the Wahoo system.

That said, with the knowledge that TSS isn’t especially helpful outside of a threshold based calendar/plan (there was a thread on it somewhere), having their own take on a current “load” rating would be interesting.

Yes, like being able to do the SYSTM running workouts on the RIVAL. I can’t believe this isn’t possible. It is possible for SYSTM cycling workouts. it is possible for TP.

I used the touchless transition feature on my last IM. Half way through the bike, my watch restarted. I lost 95km of the bike leg. So couldnt log the bike onto Strava…. Now no body knows I PBd on the bike… it’s like it never happened!

I switched from a Fenix 7 to the rival about 6 months ago, wahoo had a sale on, the rival was only £108!?

Personally I’m not interested in half the lifestyle features garmin offer and all their Vomax, training scores etc etc etc are utter BS.

I just want a watch to log runs and races. Although, the rival royally messed that up!

Apart from that I’m actually really happy with the watch.

Wahoo are clearly going through some hard times and probably some harder decisions are still to come but everyone has been saying to get rid of the deadwood (RGT) for ages. Now they’ve done it they’re getting ridiculed for it.

Can’t wait to see what the tour is like this year… no RGT… will it be named ToS again…

Connect the watch to your computer and look for the FIT file.

Tried that mate, also tried sending to a .fit site to see if I could recover the lost data… sadly no luck

I had an old Suunto crash within site of home at the end of my longest runs. The whole thing locked up so I could take a photo to prove I’d done it, but by resetting it to recover it, the file never got written to disk.

I’m still annoyed by that, even though I’ve ran a lot further since then.

Maybe with Wahoo getting closer to zwift, we might finally see Zwift activities pushed to Wahoo SYSTM calendar

So with the demise of the coaching plans where or how could you get something like a tailored consultation these days?

Suggestions welcomed. I was going to consult a coach after my race when I had some hard data on what i needed to improve upon, sadly they are no more.

Where are you based? I know a very good coach in Lancaster, UK. I’ve been with him 10 months and he’s got my FTP up over 20w and from struggling to finish an Ironman bike to getting round comfortably.

I guess this might be a good place to ask.

Are there no longer coaches at wahoo ?

It has been some time I do not see any “From the coaches” post nor any coach posting in a thread.

Has wahoo systm been downsized to its bear minimum just to keep it running ? I’m starting to feel (and I’m afraid) that the app is something of the past at this point. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Cheers,

One option (whether it suits or not i don’t know) is to go direct to the same people (popped in to my head as with these folks they’ll understand the platform we’re on) … though it’ll be a different proposition in some ways - prob financially too. I have no view on appropriateness nor whether they’re even available - just for info as i know it exists.

  1. All the info on the sports science team was on that other thread so would rather not re-open yet another one here - I’ll try and find the actual post in case that helps. The sports science team announcement the other month was that it was disbanded. Then there were a million posts about it and the future of Wahoo that got longer and longer so it’s probably hard to decipher now. So you cannot now engage a coach directly at Wahoo, that offering is no longer available.

  2. No it hasn’t - it continues as is, and continues to grow. it’s worth remembering that the offering around 121 coaching was relatively new (compared to the longevity of Sufferfest/SYSTM. The SYSTM app and all its workouts continue and grow as normal. Rupert provided an update in some of the threads from Wahoo

Were any new features released? I might have missed them.

Since the days when one accessed Sufferfest workouts by downloading them, I’ve been and will always be a Sufferlandrian but change is inevitable. David McQuillen and Neal Henderson have moved on and I wonder if a bigger Zwift fish will one day swallow Wahoo but, for now, the best cycling training content to be found is still Wahoo X. Who are the coaches and sport scientists remaining at Wahoo? Can we expect new Sufferfest, or at least Sufferfest-type videos?
